I was looking for a great Seafood restaurant on the water, for my wife's birthday supper. Real Seafood Company did not disappoint us at all. We started off with the dynamite shrimp which was spicy but very good. I guess what would you expect for something called Dynamite? My wife was able to get the filet mignon and the lobster tail combined with a potato, all of it prepared perfectly. Some of the tenderest filet mignon as finely cooked as any I've had. I ordered the walleye Milanese and it was also very tasty, much better than the fried walleye that you get at most other restaurants in Northwest Ohio. For drinks, she had an excellent Margarita and I was able to find an NA beer. A side note: they provided 50% off some non-specialty foods, which gave us $40 discount for verified birthdays The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice as you can see from the pictures. And we had an excellent waitress with Vanessa. She explained everything perfectly and was very attentive to our needs. I should also mention that their menu was on a tablet, which allowed you to scan through all of the various Specialties and main menu items. When you actually found what you wanted, you were able to pull up a picture of the selection with all of its accompanying side dishes. With an explanation of course in case you can't recognize the individual vegetables. They did have a regular paper menu available for those who might be technically challenged LOL. I would give these folks six stars if it was possible. They are far above the usual restaurant. The only criticism I have of them is that they seated another group right behind us when, at that time of day, there were only three tables in use in the entire restaurant. It makes it difficult to hear when you wear hearing aids. There was really no need for someone else to be that close. It was worth our $220 bill with tip. 2 people could have had an excellent dinner for...
Read moreFirst time in Toledo Ohio and a Real Seafood Company. We'll, this establishment doesn't disappoint! Everything about it was a complete joy after a 9 hr drive. I originally was headed to the Mexican restaurant next door but felt like something lighter. It sits on the river with other restaurants next to a very large beach volleyball court - super fun. Upon entering the staff was cheery and helpful. It was a hard decision between sitting on the deck in the sun to watch the sunset or at the indoor bar with the live piano player. I chose the bar. They have live music Wednesdays and Thursdays. The songs he played and sang to were so fleshing. I had a Belvedere slightly dirty martini with blue cheese olives and floating ice crystals- so perfect. For dinner, I chose the stuffed salmon - crab & mushroom - over mashed potato and charred broccoli with a buttery buere blanc, which I paired with Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay. It was absolutely delicious! The crisp on the salmon was perfect the flavors were a medley of harmony. Merriam, the bartender, is a delight! She's originally from Slovenia or Slovakia, I can't remember. Her family is still there. She came to this country in her 20's to learn English, planned to stay a year and here she is 20 yrs later. She went through the proper channels to get her citizenship which she is so proud of. I look forward to making this my stop everytime I'm driving from New York to Iowa State University. I stayed at the Hampton Inn - Shay at the front desk is a delight. The room is what I expect from a Hampton - amazing comfy beds with multiple different pillows,...
Read moreI've been stopping here once or twice every summer since they opened, driving down from Detroit for dinner by the river on a sunny day. They've always been a bit pricey for what you get but the bread and outdoor atmosphere kinda balanced everything out. Well, after COVID I noticed things going downhill and as I read the one star ratings I see they've increased dramatically in the last two years. I'm not surprised! Last year my go to dish, Pecan encrusted chicken was soggy and bland with a noticeable price increase. When I walked in a couple of weeks ago I discovered it had been removed from the menu along with the dish that was favored by my date. Having no choice, we went next door to the Mexican restaurant and had a good but not great meal with outstanding service as we read the reviews from the last couple of years (MANY are very bad) and decided that Real Seafood Company has shifted their priorities away from customer satisfaction and no longer deserves our patronage.
As a suggestion to RSFC, you need more chicken options for non seafood lovers. Also, many reviews mention poorly trained wait staff and management with underdeveloped people skills. As an FYI, the Mexican restaurant next door has notices posted for the wait staff where everyone can see them stating any employee using their phone when not on a break will be SUSPENDED for one day. You might want to give that a try.....
P.S. - RSFC please don't reply to this review, I personally am done with your restaurant. Just try to get back to where YOU WERE 10 years ago or you'll be out of business in 5...
