We had an amazing meal last night for our work function! The oysters, lobster bites and calamari were spot on. The Steaks (Wagyu), two kinds of potatoes, mac and cheese, all seasoned and cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive, priced accordingly and offers a variety. 5 Stars to Jake Gentry and his staff Ashlee, Roxan and AJ were all amazing and made the night memorable. We will be back again and again.
8/9/2023 Nestled in the heart of Downtown Toledo, the Chop House proved to be an extraordinary dining experience that left an indelible mark on our palates. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance exuded a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe along with the stunning view of the Maumee River, all setting the stage for a remarkable evening ahead. Starting with the appetizers, we embarked on a journey of flavors with a trio of delicacies. The oysters were plump and fresh, the shrimp boasted a perfect snap, and the calamari offered a delightful sweet and spicey crunch. It was a tantalizing introduction that left us eager for what was to come. The wine selection was impeccable, and we indulged in a bottle of 2019 Far Niente cabernet that elegantly complemented the upcoming feast. A testament to their attention to detail, the wine pairing enhanced each subsequent course. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the Wagyu ribeye, a masterpiece of marbling and succulence. Cooked to perfection, it melted in the mouth, a harmonious dance of flavors with each bite. The decision to have it Oscar style was nothing short of genius – the combination of the rich, velvety béarnaise sauce, the generous lobster claw and the sweet bite of asparagus created a symphony of tastes. Accompanying the steak were sides that were more than just accompaniments; they were culinary revelations in their own right. The earthy essence of the mushrooms, the vibrant crunch of asparagus, and the irresistible allure of Crispy Potatoes Pavé showcased the chef's dedication to elevating every aspect of the meal. Dessert was a sweet crescendo to the evening. The crème brûlée crackled temptingly under the spoon, revealing its luscious custard beneath the caramelized shell. Paired with a 20-year Tawny Port, it was the perfect note on which to conclude our culinary adventure. The service at Chop House was impeccable, a true reflection of a well-trained and attentive staff. Our course was served with an explanation that conveyed the passion the team has for the culinary art they create. Empty glasses never stayed empty for long, and every need was anticipated before it was even voiced. Thank you to our server Rob and his team, 5 Stars! In essence, Chop House in Toledo, Ohio, offers more than just a meal; it provides an immersive journey into the world of gastronomy. From the carefully curated wine list to the intricately crafted dishes, every detail has been thoughtfully orchestrated. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Chop House to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience that marries exceptional flavors with impeccable service.

My husband and I had dinner with my brother and brother-in-law at this beautiful restaurant in September of last year. I'm only now getting to the review. I had to review this restaurant, despite my delay, because I loved it so much.
We celebrated my birthday at The Chop House. I can't imagine a better place to celebrate. From the moment we walked in the door, our every need was addressed - often by more than one server and at one point by the manager.
The atmosphere was beyond beautiful. Little to no noise in the restaurant and beautiful views. The tables were appropriately spaced, so you didn't feel crowded.
Our wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. They didn't miss a beat. If your drink was low, they asked if you needed another. I had a fabulous margarita. Two lovely waitresses shook my drink tableside.
Before we ordered, we were given an electroni menu that accurately described the different types of steaks and specifically described steak temperatures. From the menu, "we take our beef pretty seriously at the Chop House . . ." They weren't lying. Our steaks were cooked perfectly.
I oredred french onion soup before dinner. It was the perfect size. It was delicious. I'll order the same thing I ordered for dinner my first time at the Chop House, the next time I visit. It was just that good.
My husband had the chop salad. He loved it - especially the sugar crusted pecans.
I had steak and lobster for my entree. My steak was perfectly cooked. My lobster was perfectly seasoned, popped from the shell so easy to manage, and also perfectly cooked. I loved my meal.
My husand had tenderloin. It, too, was perfectly cooked. The presentation for all of our meals was off the charts.
We ordered mushrooms, mac-n-cheese, and green beans to share. Everything was so good. (We took a lot of food home!)
I loved that the dessert menu was also on an Ipad, because it made deciding what to order so much easier. I selected the smoked chocolate Mousse Pie. It was made on an oreo crust, with chocolate mouse, whip cream and rasberry. Out of this world.
Because we were celebrating my birthday, the dessert came out for the table with a candle. So lovely and thoughtful.
With the tip, for four adults, the bill was just over $500. I guess it is easy for me to say how worth it it was given my brother-in-law paid, but still I'd pay that amount again for the same experience. It truly wasn't just about how above par the food was, it was a combination of the atmosphere, the incredible wait staff and the excellent food.

Read moreOf all the high-end restaurants in Toledo, this one falls short on my list. We had the sweet and spicy calamari for an app, which was good! Then I started with the baked french onion soup which was literally just cheese-not fully melted- barely onions, with a very bland broth. French onion soup is my favorite and I get it everywhere I go, and Whitehouse Inn is by far the best. I ordered the salmon for dinner and was excited that everything was within 36 hours of being caught and never frozen, and my husband got the bone-in 24 oz. porterhouse. My salmon was very under-whelming. The salmon itself had little flavor, and the sauce used on top tasted like a glorified ketchup, as if they mixed ketchup and chilli sauce. gross. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly and was pretty good. In his opinion, didn't beat Final Cut at the casino but still good. For sides we ordered steak frites (french fries), mushrooms, and brussel sprouts, which all come in portion sizes to share. The fries were so tiny and crispy they reminded my of the potato straws you can eat from a can, I think we got the bottom of the barrell as well since they were tiny crummy pieces. The mushrooms had garlic chunks and looked good but had no flavor. We didn't eat them and the staff noticed and took off the bill. The brussel sprouts were good but the bacon pieces were just fat chunks so you couldn't eat the bacon with them. Brussel sprouts at Biaggi's are better. As for the atmosphere, I think my view is tainted as they sat us at a table facing the entrance versus the dining room. On either side of our half-booth half-table, they had trays for dirty dishes/stations for serving food. We faced the waitress station where they refilled waters and stoof around. So we awkwardly started at the staff. The waitress we had was mediocre. Overall, I gave this plac a 2/5. Only because I expected high-end customer service and good foods. I chose to go here for my birthday over my usual JAlexanders, and was very disappointed. However, they give you 50% all food on the bill when it is the actual day of your birthday. So if you're trying it out, go then! Sorry Chop House! I like the location in Ann Arbor...
