PepperJax Grill — Restaurant in Topeka

I probably won't return this time. I am home bound and my daughter asked if I wanted something that she could pick up and bring back to me. So I ordered the food over the phone using speaker phone so my daughter could hear my order and then check I got it all. She went and picked up at window, did a spot check to make sure everything was in the sack.

What I ordered:

2 fries that I asked if they could make them crispy and they said 'of course' large cheesesteak sandwich with grilled onions, grilled green peppers and grilled mushrooms with the 2 standard cheeses 1 bowl of the steak with nothing on it extra au jus *. 2 rice krispie treats

While my daughter checked to see if there were 2 orders of fries, a sandwich, a bowl, etc., I told her not to open everything as it's too difficult to do that level of checking in the car. She picked it up and called on phone while she was checking.

What I Got:

1 LG cheesesteak sandwich with NOTHING on it, no grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms or cheese 2 orders of limp soggy room temperature fries NO au jus 1 small little box with steak pieces, more like tiny little ground up dry pieces. 2 large generous rice krispie treats that were very fresh and good.

My receipt was around $38.. $38!!! I could have gone to Longhorn and had a sirloin, salad, baked potato, homemade brown bread. And, my bill would've been less, MUCH less. I'm just never going to be able to forget such a thing.

Moreover, when I called they offered to remake my order and they would have it ready by the time I got there. I told them my daughter had picked it up for me because, as I had already stated, I'm home bound, I cannot get down or upstairs. Additionally, my daughter had gone as she had to be somewhere. So, I was stuck with this mess. To make things worse, the meat was so terribly salty, I just couldn't eat it. Furthermore, that 'bowl' I ordered? I ordered it for my sweet dog who is not well, has been in determinating health and I try to get him special foods so he can enjoy as much life and pampering I can afford to give him. I have just finished eating a Philly cheesesteak with fries from PepperJax. A lot of people told me how good they were but I'm really not impressed. The Philly cheesesteak and Fries were really really salty. The customer service was somewhat fine. The reason I say somewhat fine is because as my sandwich was being made I asked one of the associates for extra cheese she said okay and proceeded to put that extra cheese on the sandwich. Another employee yelling at the top of her lungs stated there will be a $0.90 charge for each slice of cheese. I don't know about anyone else but I do not like when Food Service workers say things like that. I understand that you must let the customer know that there is an additional charge for the extra toppings. But I am pretty sure if someone asks for extra they already know that there is an additional charge. And the sad part about it is I was not at the cash register yet I was still in front of the grill. So I did not like this about PepperJax well might I say this experience. Also I did not like the environment because it was an extremely loud. Now if the food was satisfying I would not mind grabbing something to go but sitting in would not be an option for me because you would have to yell at the top of your lungs just to speak to the person sitting across the table from you. The worker that happen to be the manager went to the back to get another box of gloves. She opened the box of gloves to put a pair on but did not wash her hands prior to putting the gloves on. Then she proceeded to make our food, but then she put too much rice in my bowl. I asked for her to remove some of it. She started to put her hand into my bowl instead of the spoon!!! I screamed 😱 ""NO!! Please do not use your hands!!!"" Like OMG!! SERIOUSLY!! Then from there she used her hands for the other garnishments!!! I was done!!!
