Sol Café — Restaurant in Torrington

First time going here and last. Came on a Saturday, as I walked in the door, I see one table being served, but my focus was to do take out only. Notice 2 waitresses behind the bar, who never acknowledged or looked my way, stood there for 5 minutes then ask one of them if I could place an order. She immediately said "one second " and walked away (very unprofessional and rude). Waited an additional 5 minutes until my order was placed. When my order was finished , I was given a price that was well above the menu price. When asked why, one of the waitresses stated their prices went up. I then said to her, that it is illegal to charge prices that does not coincide with their menu price and the menus with the incorrect pricing should be removed to avoid confusion. She then showed a sign that was not visible to customers coming in to place orders. First and foremost this is illegal, the service is unprofessional and the food was not even great, very bland and overrated. My order was shrimp tacos, calamari and beans with white rice. Tacos contained brown wilted iceberg lettuce with 3 bland soggy fried shrimp, the calamari was very bland and soggy served on wilted spinach and the beans were over cooked and mushy. Overall, the food was very distasteful and horrible, was not edible and tossed in the trash. These reviews have to be from friends and family of the owner. Don't believe it. I will never recommend nor will be returning. These people are total scammers that serve horrible...

So after waiting almost 40 minutes after being told it would be 15 I get there and I’m told half my order which is the rice of the day that comes with the meals isn’t available and I’ll have to settle with white rice. Get home the salad that they foolishly packed with the hot food was soggy and inedible by the time we got home. Also no desserts at all? Granted we called up an hour before closing but it’s a Friday night a typical dinner time that they should be prepared for. They have a sign that says costs went up due to prices of products going up so I guess that means service goes down?? Two stars because the pork was actually really good everything else was a waste of money. Service like this is why this mom and pop restaurant that is slowly turning to a local teenage...

My fiancé and I visited the cafe this past weekend, and our experience was terrible. Despite being the only customers dining there, we waited for an hour and received nothing but the lemonades we ordered. It was frustrating to watch staff members continuously fulfill multiple online orders while we remained unattended. We ordered three appetizers: wings, nachos, and calamari, WHICH SHOULD NOT TAKE A FULL HOUR TO SERVE, especially when we were the only ones in the restaurant.

Ultimately, we decided to leave because we could no longer wait. I can't help but wonder if the delay was influenced by the fact that we are Black in a predominantly Spanish restaurant. Whatever the reason, the service we received was completely...
