When you first pull into the parking lot, the building itself may not impress you. (Luckily, as Mary Poppins would say, "A Cover Is Not the Book.")
The building may not impress you ... but believe me, the coffee sure will!!!
My wife has been seeing them on Instagram. Not only the postings from the business owner but also rave reviews from customers.
We have been wanting to try it for some time, but it's a little out of the way and it simply didn't work with our schedules.
Finally, the holiday week between Christmas and New Year's, we made it!
Was it worth the wait and the drive out to Selden?
Oh boy, was it ever!!!
The place is small, and the menu is simple. It is a coffee shop first, although they do offer muffins (cinnamon, blueberry, and chocolate chip) as well as "breakfast biscuits" (eggs, cheeses, veggies, and assorted breakfast meats stuffed into a homemade biscuit). Yum!
But like I said ... it's a coffee shop first! :-)
Freshly ground? Check!
Freshly brewed? Check!
Basic flavors? (cinnamon, vanilla, mocha) Heck no!!!
This is where things get interesting!
First, you select a size. They offer small (single shot) or large (double shot).
Next, you choose your flavor.
A few of the options include Rice Krispie Treats, Cinnamon Bun, Oatmeal Creme Pie, S'mores, Gingerbread Cookie, and Junior Mint.
Where do the flavors come from? That's the best part!
They do not use artificial flavors. They do not flavor the drink using syrup from a bottle.
Instead, they use something they call "cookie butter."
Put simply, the foundation of the flavor (real cinnamon bun filling, real gingerbread cookies, real Rice Krispie Treats, real Junior Mints) is "blended" into a smooth, rich, buttery substance which is refrigerated until it's time to make your beverage.
Then the coffee is ground and brewed and a heaping spoonful of "cookie butter" is added, giving the drink an amazingly authentic flavor and a richness that's truly unlike anything I have ever tried.
We tried the Rice Krispie Treat Latte and the Cinnamon Roll Latte. Both were outrageously good!!!
I also tried a cinnamon muffin. Baked fresh that morning, it was moist, loaded with cinnamon flavor, and just delicious!
As mentioned earlier, it isn't much to look at from the outside, but it has a very warm and cozy feeling on the inside.
The walls are adorned with photographs from a local photographer, artwork from several young children, and printouts of the rave reviews they have received on Google and Yelp.
They also have some comfy chairs and small "bar" with stools.
The drinks are amazing. The snacks are amazing. And, guess what... the people who work there couldn't be nicer! It was our first time there, but within minutes we were chatting like old friends.
I am giving COFFEE BOOTHS five stars ... only because Yelp won't let me give them six! :)
If you're in the area, drop in for a latte you'll never forget!
If you're not in the area, do what we did ... get in the car and drive! It's absolutely worth the...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience all around! I want to thank Coffee Booths and their wonderful employees for making my birthday and trip to Long Island so special!
I’ve followed them on Instagram for years, drooling over pictures of their coffee, looking over their menu and dreaming of making a trip. This year for my birthday we decided to make the trip out to LI for the express purpose of trying this coffee. I was dedicated! And I was not disappointed one bit!
The staff was ecstatic to hear I’d come from a few states away to try their coffee, and were so sweet to even give me a free coffee and sing me happy birthday, complete with a candle! Everyone we met and spoke to was incredibly sweet, and they were truly some of the sweetest staff I’ve ever met!
The coffee was incredible, perfectly balanced between sweet and roasted, and flavored exactly to their descriptions! The little spoons are such a cute touch! My boyfriend enjoyed his biscuit, which was fresh and soft, with melted cheese and crispy bacon.
Overall, absolutely incredible service and menu, we can’t...
Read moreI’ll get the cons out of the way: cash only, closed on Sundays and no indoor service so you don’t get that cozy coffee shop atmosphere that makes them so wonderful.
However, the pros outweigh the above so heavily that I’m still giving five stars. Everything in their products is homemade. Their specialty latte list is extensive and the presentation is chef’s kiss They also do drinks of the month that are so much fun! For example, for October they are serving a Boo Berry latte. Furthermore, their employees are always so nice and friendly, you feel like you’ve been transported out of Long Island. The fact that they are a bit hidden yet always have a line is a testament to their customer service and quality ingredients. They also have punch cards for loyal customers.
Today I tried one of their stuffed biscuits for the first time and it’s right in line with a LI deli BEC 😋
Can’t wait to come back after my hiatus. I would love to see them make them overhaul their outdoor...
