It was my first time getting food from here. I went with two friends. It took a long time for them to come up and place our order. All I ordered was an espresso. When my friends got their food, several things in their orders were incorrect. They didn’t come back to check on us so me and my friend had to go up after a while to ask for these changes to be made. I also asked for a coffee, which on the menu said it was about 3:50. Finally, the bill comes out which also took a long time and I am charged 14 dollars for two double espressos. I went up and asked why that was the case when it said on the menu it was 3:50 and she said it was because espressos are 7 but she’d change it for me. I told her I really appreciated it. (I was also given DOUBLE espressos which I didn’t ask for— I asked for an ESPRESSO and a COFFEE). My friend also asked for a box for her food which she never got. When we see the new bill, the total goes from 65 to 64. And we don’t get any other information about why we’re being charged that amount. Or waitress just shook her head and walked away, I’m assuming so that we wouldn’t complain. Our tip also went from 10 to 12 dollars even though the new total was less. How is that possible? I feel like I got scammed. I never leave bad reviews but I’m...
Read more3.5 stars; a nice place if you're hungry, I guess. One day, when I was all the way up north in Miller Place, I came across this place and was welcomed into the restaurant without a problem. The server did take a few minutes to come over, but I got my order in promptly. Considering no one was there, they did take a little bit on my food, but it was satisfactory. One thing that I was a little surprised about was the server didn’t ask me how my food was after I received it which did shock me quite a bit.
However, one thing that I wasn’t that pleased with was the pricing on the bacon. I’ve never seen an 8-dollar upcharge for a side of bacon anywhere, including places like Manhattan and the Caribbean, so that was a little bit of a turn-off. But other than that, the rest of the prices were reasonable, and overall, I’d say this is a halfway decent place if you’re in the area.
Normally, I’m a little bit of a distance away from Miller Place, but otherwise, I would consider returning if I’m in the area again. (I was tossed between three and four stars, but I had to go with three because the restaurant wasn’t busy...
Read moreI came in with my daughter for brunch, the food overall was decent. The service is poor! At best ,Tori V was our server. When she dropped the food she never asked if we wanted anything else & never came back. we were never asked if we wanted any more water, coffee, etc We weren't even done eating and she dropped the check on the table. She didn't say a word, I just assumed that we were done. Our check came with a 4% credit card fee. I was never asked whether I was paying cash or credit. If I were paying cash and didn't look there would be an extra 4% on there for the restaurant. Restaurants or delis with this practice no longer receive my business. without explanation it is a very tacky way to do business. I'm certain they could work the credit card fee into the already overpriced food. This additional fee isn't visible at the door or on the menu in plain sight, this 4% charge is just sprung on the customer at the end. besides this being a shady practice, not having that charge visible in plain sight is illegal. fair to say I will not be back to Flying Pig...
