Updated 4/14/24. Everytime I rush there after work to arrive 30 min before closing, the current staff will not serve anything but ices. More often than not, they close 10 minutes early and when they don't, they close even earlier.
This used to be our favorite ice cream shop. A few years ago they had the kindest people working there and would whip up whatever sundae you requested if they had the ingredients. Now, the kids that work there are very quick to say "No" to your ice cream order with an unpleasant demeanor. 80% of what's on the menu is not available because it's either out of stock or the employees just don't want to make it because they '"cleaned up that area" already. The last 6 times we went there: •soft serve was unavailable or •shakes were unavailable or •we were given a flavor of ice cream we didn't order or like, only to find out when we got home or •they closed early 4 out of the 6 times
They opened in early March, for the season. This kind of service teaches you where NOT to go anymore for the entire season. We felt badly giving up on them so we stuck it out (the same thing was going on in the fall of last year) but ice cream nights are supposed to be fun nights. If you close at 9:30pm, you should serve until 9:30pm. I respect that many employees don't like when a customer arrives at 9:25pm (I didn't as a kid either) but these are your posted hours and this is your job. Many people need jobs today and would feel happy to have a customer at all (plus a tip). Many business owners would be grateful for the chance to serve their community. You never know who you're networking with. If you treat people professionally at an ice cream shop window, you might just meet your next boss who would be happy to hire you after college graduation.
The Ralph's in Port Jeff & Wading River is worth the drive for service,...
Read moreI cannot even begin to explain how incredibly rude the staff was here!!! I know the opinion of one customer makes very little difference but I won't be returning. I hope the owner realizes that if you lose a dollar, it may be no big deal, but if you lose one every day, it adds up quickly. I waited on a line to place my order. One staff member was serving a friend of hers and both were cursing up a storm like there wasn't multiple small children standing there. When my son and I got to the counter, the girl seemed distracted or annoyed but fine. I asked for my 3 items, a simple order, the last being a cake batter shake. She had me clarify, then after handing me the two ices, reclarified. She went off to make it then hands me a cake shake which is not cake batter. I was confused and asked why it wasn't yellow and she got very angry, stomped off, talking to the other girl about it like we weren't standing there. The other girl rang me up, equally delightful, then the first girl comes back and hands me a half full shake,(see pic). I have to laugh because it seemed like such a ridiculous thing but whatever. There is a Friendlys up the road and another Ralph's in Port Jeff. I hope the owner speaks with her staff about customer service. Their season just started, they have a long summer...
Read moreHours of operation are not reflected accurately on google. Google hours state this location is open until 10:30 pm. When I arrived at 9:25 pm, the girl working the counter stated that the store was closed. When asked what time they close, she stated 9:30 pm. It was only 9:25. Service was unavailable because the “register was closed”. Poor customer service, and a poorly ran business. This is the second time this has happened to me at a Ralph’s location. Big waste of time and will be getting ice...
