Visited the place after Friday Islamic prayers, I heard it sold Halal wings which is rare for this neighborhood. I walked in with my prayer cap and I was greeted warmly. Vinny was very courteous and professional in his work of hosting and serving us. He even asked about the Islamic guidelines associated with preparing Halal meat which I deeply admire and respect as it is something sacred in our religion. Lately I've seen establishments falsely advertising Halal meat in order to make a quick buck out of the Muslim community but this was not one of them given the sincerity of the staff. We were in a rush so we just ordered the garlic parm boneless wings. The order did take some time to make but I really appreciate how warm and accommodating the staff was as we waited. The food was sizzling hot I was a bit too impatient when I started digging in. The odd thing about this place is the built in bar given how alcohol consumption is forbidden in Islam. The establishment does sell Halal meat and Vinny was really transparent about Halal certification which was great. I also contacted the owner directly and he responded within a day with the paperwork so I am grateful to see the establishment's sincere attempt in catering to the Muslim community. The place is clean and spacious. I did not find their wings much different from any other fast food joint but I am grateful it serves Halal meat in a relatively close vicinity to where I live. Perhaps I'll come back and order something else where I can take my time to decide as I was in a rush. But I'd like to emphasize the staff was very warm and receptive and as a minority I did not feel unwelcome at all...
Read moreFood was okay, nothing special. But service was absolutely terrible. I tried calling for takeout and was told I can't order over the phone (that seemed ridiculous to me) and that I had to order online. I used the online order link on their website, and after placing an order, my wife asked me to add something. The receipt they emailed me had no option to edit the order. So I called back to see if I could add something to pay for at pickup, again was told no. I asked if I could just cancel the order and re-order, was told no (I would have to cancel online and there was no active link to cancel). So rather than make a 2nd order, I just decided to stick with the original order. Upon arrival to pickup my order, I was told that they canceled my order (after telling me they couldn't) while still charging me and said they couldn't refund me. They then had me wait to fill the order. I was clearly upset, but rather than offer me some extra wings, or a dessert, they offered me alcohol (I'm a recovering alcoholic). After I got home I found that not only was the food very mediocre, but they forgot one of the rubs I ordered on the side. So even though this place just opened (yet the sign reads "under new management") they clearly need new management. Start with the very easy task of taking orders over the phone (like literally EVERY other food establishment). Horrible experience and won't...
Read moreMost pizza places and pubs around here can give you a good plate of wings. Problem is, you never know when that's going to be because no one is consistent. It's always hit and miss, hit and miss...
Enter: ATOMIC WINGS. These guys just get it. For starters, they're never too big or too small, but hit that Goldilocks sweet spot of just right every time. Second, the level of specificity you're able to request when ordering is for real wing aficionados; they offer three different levels of doneness: regular, crispy, or extra crispy, and they know that not everyone wants the wings tossed in the sauce and may want it on the side, and offer that option, as well. Sauce options are, as one would imagine at a place like this, plentiful.
Lastly, and this is huge: getting wings to go from most places is really disappointing because even if they do get your order right, they are then thrown into a plastic clamshell to-go container, where they steam, overcook, and turn into a soggy mess. The to-go containers at Atomic Wings are breathable with a few holes to vent the steam, prevent overcooking and sogginess.
In short: Atomic Wings have thought of everything. Add in a friendly owner and bar staff, spotless dining area, and plenty of TVs, this is THE places to watch a game, have a drink, and enjoy the best wings on Long Island - and it's...
