Mount Sinai Sushi — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I have been eating here for years and it has been consistent. Good, fresh and excellent service. However, after going home yesterday with several lunch sushi specials, my wife and I started feeling ill and both had stomach aches and diarrhea. We ate nothing else but the sushi and we both had the exact same symptoms. When I called to inform them I had to sit on the phone and listen to them scream at each other for what seemed like forever. I said I was calling 1) to let them know something was wrong, and 2) to give them an opportunity to make me feel better about the whole thing. Well, I was made to feel like I was trying to run some kind of sushi scam. After questioning the veracity of my story by several different people, I was told they could offer me $15.00 off my next visit. That doesn't sound reasonable for a lunch I paid $39.49 which made us sick and we only ate half of. I offered to present them with the uneaten portion for proof. Surprisingly good for the $. I have enjoyed just about everything I've tried here. Great Sushi lunch special. Can't beat 3 rolls and a salad or soup for under $12 AFTER taxes. Spicy Yellowtail roll is very good, they don't chop it up so u get an actual piece of fish which is awesome for a spicy roll.

Funny enough my only disappointment was something any sushi place can usually do well. The California Roll is almost all avocado, tiny tiny bit of crab and no cucumber, never seen one done like that before. If you love avocado I guess it's okay but when you order other rolls that already have avocado, skip the Cali Roll...more crab would be nice. The Nigiri cuts can be a bit small, but again, for the price, it's not a bad deal. Would be nice if they up-graded their chopsticks, they use the real crappy ones that give splinters, but that's being a bit nit picky I guess. Still very good sushi!

Firstly, the place is dirty! Secondly, some of our sushi rolls didn't look like the sushi roll photos on the menu. When I brought that to the waitress attention, she more or less said "sorry", walked away and that was it! I could've made more of a big deal about it but didn't - it was only lunch and I knew my wife and I would be out of there in less than 15 minutes. While sitting at our table, we noticed several times that the guy making the sushi wearing the glasses makes fun of customers as they walk in the door... making comments in Japanese and the waitresses just laugh. The waitress all stand around by the very back area and chat. We had to ask for water at least 5X. They never came around on their own.
