I’d never heard of the Famous Egg Sandwich, but its aspirations are justified. I suggest scrambled eggs with extra tomato butter, the spread paradoxically bringing everything together. The coffee is the best in town and made with knowledge and care. The atmosphere is bright and airy, and extends the downtown foot traffic several blocks past the beaten cement path. The staff has a different form of ADHD: Attentive, Driven, Hardworking, and Delightful. Over the last month, I’ve been fortunate to become a regular and get to know them. Tim pours over coffee and conversation, but only one gets a filter. Liam grinds coffee with a headspin and ices it with a baby freeze. Sami greets you with a spritz of joy and disinfection. They make Iron Maiden sound like an audio massage at the end of your day. Caroline is the only one allowed to make the maple spice latte because she makes the daily commute from Vermont. This is my own mythology. Kaylynn mayykes coffyy whyyle keeping the shyyp running smoothlyy. On Sundays, TJ is a DJ that spins caffeine vinyl at 3,333⅓ rpm. It turns Black Sabbath Coffee into Alvin and the Dripmunks. Mojito Joe orders the kombucha cans. (“Hey Joe, I’m waiting patiently down the block, reclining on your beanbag seat. Let’s just do this peacefully so no one gets girt, got, or hurt. Same time, bruh… same time! You give me the minty bubbles, I’ll give you back your chair. Yankees in seven.”) And geewhiz, Liz. When I’m writing and wondering about the divided self, she butters my sandwich with sweet tomatoes inside my head, on both my bread brain and toasty...
Read moreOk. So let me start by saying I greatly prefer medium/dark to dark roast coffee. Saka from Naples being my daily driver and King’s Coast Bow Breaker from Bohemia my second fav. I have a home coffee bar with a pretty good DF54 flat burr grinder and pretty good machine using an 4 sec pre-infusion and Higher temp of 205 for the lighter roasts. I enjoy the hobby immensely and dialing in new beans is fun and sometimes quite challenging. I had a difficult time dialing in the decaf Mexican. Even at a 0 grinder setting it still pulled 18g in and 40g out in a very fast 19 seconds. Couldn’t get it past a very sour taste no matter the dose or grind. I went through the whole bag unsuccessfully!! I will be back and love what you are doing and I understand y’all are known for being a medium to light roast coffee shop but will you offer a roast for us darker roast Italian espresso lovers?? The staff was great and I welcome any advice on dialing in the decaf. Thanks for all your effort to keep specialty coffee...
Read moreCame by on a Monday early afternoon. No street parking but there is a small lot next to the establishment. Modern and homey vibes throughout the store, with indoor and outdoor seating for eats. They offer teas, breakfast meal items, coffees, espresso, and matcha.
For our first visit we decided to try the iced matchas. I got the strawberry with almond milk and my partner, undecided, opted for a regular matcha with almond milk. The matcha and drinks are made in front of you. The lids and straws are located across from where you pick your order up from. After trying the regular matcha, my partner opted to add some vanilla syrup, which we were informed was made in house. That made the matcha taste so good, for me, that I swapped drinks with my partner and kept the vanilla matcha, my partner really liked the strawberry matcha, made with strawberry puree.
Paid under $17 for both drinks. Would come back to try...
