I went to Barito a few weeks ago with a friend for Taco tuesday. Craig was our server, he was great and the food was good. Our bill was about $40 and change; I paid with one of my debit cards. I woke up the next morning to a text from my bank that one of my accounts had overwithdrawn. I pulled up my charges and Barito had over charged me by $200. I called the restaurant to speak to a manager (Matt, I believe?) and I was told it was an issue with their credit card machine and I was the 4th person this happened to in a few months. The manager apologized and reached out to their credit company and the best resolution I got was to wait 2-3 business days to see if the pending charge would remove itself since they were unable to cancel/refund on the restaraunts end. After 2.5 days the charge disappeared, but my $40 check still went through. Maybe I’m too nice and didn’t raise my voice enough, I just found it disappointing that I wasn’t offered anything (my check comped, a free appetizer, a round of drinks, literally anything) other than a “I’m sorry” and “I hope you come back.” Luckily I have multiple accounts, but what if this was the only one I had and I was out of money for the whole week until my next paycheck? Waiting 2+ days to get my money back that shouldn’t have even been taken in the first place just seems outrageous to me. The manager was polite and seemed apologetic, so I don’t want to bash anyone, I just felt like more could have been done. I was more concerned with the restaurant addressing this issue so it doesn’t happen to other people, and I couldn’t get a real clear answer on what steps they were taking to fix it. So, I’m sharing this review in hopes of protecting other people. I guess if you’re reading this and decide to go, my suggestion is to NOT use a credit card and only pay cash. It stinks because the service by our waiter was wonderful and we enjoyed the atmosphere, but I don’t think either of us will return here after this incident,...

My husband and I were visiting Port Jefferson on Sunday, June 21st and stopped by the restaurant for a drink and an early dinner. At the beginning of our dining experience the service was pretty slow. It took quite a while for anyone to take our order. But that is not why I am writing this review. By the time our food arrived there were three other tables with guests and a couple of people at the bar. All of a sudden ALL if the staff disappeared. I was hoping to get another drink, but could not see anyone. The bar had noone behind it and there was absolutely no wait staff or a hostess. Now we are done with our meal and are waiting to see someone to get a check. Nothing. I look around and realize that all 3 waitressed and the hostess are sitting at the very back table on their phones,. The bar staff was at a side table just hamging out. Not one of them was looking towards the dining area.. It looked as if everyone was on a lunch break. It was so ridiculous that I took a video. I have never seen anything like this. My husband and I had to walk over to the back to get someone's attention just so we can finally get the check and go. To top it all off the food is really mediocre. The quacamole was made with old tomatoes which gave an aftertaste of a rotten fruit. The pork belly taco was a joke - the pork belly was not chopped and still had the skin on it - it was impossible to bite through. I had to disassemble the taco, take the pork belly, cut the skin off and cut the tiny piece of pork in to a few pieces just so it can be eaten. The spicy margarita, although tasty, had absolutely no...

In our section, it was us (a 2 table) next to a 6 table (filled up), and across from two empty 4 tables. Don't allow the hostess to sit at the two 2 seater tables near the kitchen. The other couple across from us in another section looked just as uncomfortable sitting next to pedestrian 495.
Sat down, got water, and waited. Went to the bathroom, waited. Longingly watched the waitress and hostess visit the 6 seater table like 4-6 times while they ate. Waited. Watched them order a second round of some delicious looking margarita pitchers. Waited. Watched them get the delicious pitcher delivered, along with some extra water. Waited. Listened to them laugh and drink the margarita pitcher. Waited.
Looked at the menu. Drinks (check - they sounded delicious), appetizer (quadruple check - Mexican corn - delicious), entree (tacos and fajitas - mmmmm - we were ready). After making eye contact with the waitress on the 4th or 5th visit, I finally got annoyed. Not even a "Hey, I'll be right with you"?
Waited what felt like 20 minutes and left. If this is the service somewhat busy, I can't imagine what it must be like busy. No staff member looked...
