Struggletown BBQ — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Texan approved! We showed up at lunchtime to get a last minute order for a family dinner after a funeral. Although the policy is to order catering a day ahead (which is normal), they kindly put our order together and it was hot and ready for pickup on time, later that day. Coming from Austin, we were happy to hear that the owner was familiar with Franklin, Interstellar, and Black’s bbq. We were thrilled to discover that Struggletown’s fare is truly on par with Austin bbq! The brisket was tender and delicious, the ribs were awesome, and the pulled chicken was sauced to perfection. Beans and mac & cheese - yummmm. We all raved over the cornbread - best we’ve ever had, and better the next day. I’m hoping to somehow convince the owner to share his secret, but if I were him I’d keep it to myself. This place is a gem and we’ll be back every time...

We recently had a big staff party for our organization and had Struggletown BBQ cater the event and omggg the food was so delicious, everyone was raving about it. I cannot wait to go back there and order more from the menu myself and taste everything. What I did get to have was the brisket, so tasty and tender, the flavor was so deep! The pulled chicken and the gold sauce, too die for. The Mac and cheese shells, just like homemade! I mean, every bite was just impeccable! Would recommend to anyone dying for a delicious BBQ bite, literally cannot wait to go back to try the ribs! Thank you for a wonderful spread, we will def be using your company again! I had really high hopes for this place but was kind of disappointed. I got the Big Tex brisket sandwich and although it wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. Brisket was kind of dry, not a lot of BBQ sauce on it. The cornbread was pretty dry too, definitely could've used some butter to help moisten it up. Their menu was sort of confusing too. Their website shows their "weekend menu" but they also have pictures of their full menu? A lot of the stuff on their full menu isn't available during the week I guess..... Overall I would give it a second try later on and try something different but as of right now it's not looking like a frequent...
