The Whiskey Barrel — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

So I am editing my original review. Which can be found below . I appreciate aplace that improves and glad to see it. This was our second visit , and it has been a while although we have been in for drinks again. We dined on a Friday evening around 6pm. We arrive and were told to sit anywhere we would like so we did. We were immediately greeted with a drink menu and food menus and our server arrived to take our drink order. Danielle was friendly and attentive and provided excellent service throughout our meal . She recommended the cheese steak which was excellent . My son had a great cheese burger cooked perfectly . We both had sweet potato fries, easily the best Sweet potato fries in the area and then some. We will return again for the food!! You can disregard the review below as it is no longer applicable . Nice job Whiskey Barrel!!

Our First visit- we sat at the bar and had great service . Bar gets 5 stars but food was unremarkable. Boneless chicken wings breaded possibly frozen Product ? Almost no flavor without the Barrell sauce. no blue cheese served, celery on side .I was pretty sure it came with blue cheese on menu. Chili was ok but 2/3-3/4 of a crock was a surprise . Why not fill it up? Flavor was lacking. Best appetizer we had was fresh mozzarella . A nice plate but thin sliced tomatoes were a disappointment. Otherwise it was good and could have excelled with a few greens and tomatoes thick enough to grab with the fork. Beer was cold , bartender attentive and super friendly , and if you like whiskey or bourbon they have a massive selection. 3 1/2 stars but google doesn’t allow for half stars . Food was ultimately good. We got there mother's day at 12pm for a reservation. There was one waitress and one hostess who also seemed to be the bus girl and bartender. I understand, people call out, places are short staffed. That's fine. We ask for a high chair and before we even get a highchair they take our drink order while we are awkwardly wrestling our 2 year old. They finally bring it after being reminded. Next we are given brunch menus, the only reason we picked this restaurant for mother's Day lunch was because the menu had so many good looking options. So to get a brunch menu and to be told that we are not able to order off a regular menu and then we could only have brunch was upsetting. If we hadn't already ordered our drinks, we would have probably said never mind and left. But we didn't want to go through the hassle of paying for what we've already had them make. The waitress is very nice and I have no complaints about the staff. It just seemed very disorganized and a little chaotic, the restaurant wasn't that busy. There was no wait. And maybe four tables were occupied. But because of the lack of staff it was a little crazy. Also to mention there was a man who was a "regular" sitting next to us who asked for a regular menu and he was able to order off of it. Just a bit annoyed about the...

This is my first time ever leaving a restaurant review anywhere but this place has left me with 2 of the craziest dining experiences I’ve ever been apart of. 1st time- normal busy saturday night in port jeff, group of 4 walked in & sat at the open table they had available. Wasn’t like they were absolutely packed out. We sat there for a full HOUR with even ever being looked at by a server. Waited there longer than I would’ve ever imagined but of course walked out. While not a single worker tried to stop us (walked by us though) a large party did and also told us it had been a hr & a half since their drink order vs. food.

2nd. gave it another shot with uber eats. ordered our food and meals arrived perfectly. bag was sealed and absolutely zero sign of tampering but a meal was left out. We called the restaurant to at least see if we could pick up the meal at the restaurant as we obv paid them for the food. They refused and only offered us a $15 gift card for our next meal as the kitchen was “too busy” to make the food that you know, we paid for.
