What to say, I have been in Croton for 6 years and always love showing this place to my visiting friends. Today was the last straw. I would like to preface that I have always found the food great, albeit smaller then usual bagels, but still great quality. Several times over the years I have to explicitly price the items I order because cashiers like to be *quick and *liberal. Today was the last straw when I was rung up by a woman I presume is in management. I was over charged a misc. $2.00 for my sandwich. They have a menu board with prices:
"Egg, Cheese, 2 Meats - $4.75".
I did not order a:
"Egg, Cheese, 1 Meat - $3.75" to then be charged an additional $3.00 for "Double the meat on my sandwich." (It wasn't double meat, I ordered 2 Different Meats)
I pointed to the menu board and questioned the overcharge, and her response was simply "That is wrong, it needs to be fixed." I remind her, that, yes, your new Flat Screen menu board is nice, but that has been the same price for all the years I have been coming here. Her resolution is "Well sorry you're wrong and so is the menu board."
I am regretfully not giving this place anymore of my business, and will encourage others who don't like being robbed and cheated at the checkout to do the same. I hope the business owner takes this the right way, and rectifies his employee's practices. I've reviewed my charge account, and in 6 months I have spent over $300 at this place. That's $600 a year, you've lost because you tried to scam me for $2 bucks.
Again, I stress this was not a one off time this happened, but today just happened to be the worst when I was told I was wrong by the Manager. The other employees usually fess up, back the order out and price it accordingly. It's a real shame a business with such potential and great product must resort to this kind of thing. Trish chimed in, again, telling me that maybe she didn't hear me, which was not the case. Trish refused to wait on me (she actually said they're not going to wait on me.) Perfectly chewy and a bit sweeter than you are probably used to, but that is just what I like about this place. Looking through the reviews there seem to be several long-time customers that have talked about how they have been coming here for 20 years and love the food, but felt it necessary to leave a 1* review because they thought the service was poor or their orders were wrong. If you have been going to a place for years then how about you talk to the staff about your issues and I am sure they will try their hardest to get your order correct next time.
