The following is, for the sake of brevity, paraphrased from two conversations, one at the restaurant, one on the phone where it was then revealed that MJ was not the manager but the owner.
Having enjoyed the food there in the past, I was meeting a friend and we decided to met at Davincis. We checked the website and there along with the Holiday hours was the Sun-Thurs 2 for $25 special we had previously taken advantage of. We met, enjoyed our meal but when the check arrived each Chicken French was individually billed @ $22 and not 2 for $25. We brought to the attention of the waiter who brought it back to the kitchen. He came back to inform us that the special was no longer in place and it was now 2 for $30 for take out only. When informing him the only thing on the website was the 2 for $25, he offered to get the manager. When she came out she told us it was only during the pandemic. We informed her that we had been there just before Christmas and took advantage of the special. She first said we could not have been (which I afterwards checked my Discover statement and it was Dec 15th) then backed off and said we had been told it was a mistake but would honor it then, but not again....both not true.
I told her their website says "Welcome to our new website". She maintained that the person that did their site had just used a bunch of old ads and included that and hadn't been updated. If that were the case then how did the Holiday hours get posted and after this "event", wouldn't you go immediately to change it , to avoid it happening again? This was Thursday, today is Saturday yet it is still on there.
We offered to pay the 2 for $30, but she said she could not do that and that by making that demand we were being nasty ( her words) thereby making it difficult to keep employees on at those low prices! She did take $8.00 off our bill...a far cry from the $19 additional we were charged. Interesting thing is she was told by staff that they had seen me there on different occasions, which I had been, and that this woman MJ was not only the manager, but the owner!
We did tip the waiter, Ryan, about 30% as he was stuck in the middle and did a good job. I guess business is so good that you can treat repeat customers in this manner. Funny thing is, if she just would have said she was sorry for the mistake, and admitted we were right instead of deflecting it all back on us and not taking any responsibility, we would have agreed to her offer with no problems. Now, we did pay, but she lost not only the two of us, but our families as well. Most of the negative reviews I have read mention problems with management attitude, few about problems...
Read moreOrdered from Postmates last night, it was the "party" (which means free delivery because drivers are in the area) it said expected time was 30 min, nope it took 58 minutes, can't hold the driver accountable b/c I am only 8 mins away, he got here in 7. (You get to watch your entire experience from your phone, to an extent) Chicken French is one of my favorite meals, I was hesitant because it came over 2 huge pieces of broccoli, not a bed like the menu stated or over pasta, you get a side of ziti with their red sauce(sauce was delicious) my 3yo ate the entire plate. Back to the French, you got 2 HUMONGOUS breasts which could easily feed 2 adults but not enough pasta, no option to have the French served over the pasta or choose a sauce for that side of pasta. Idk if that's a postmates thing or a Davincis thing. Either way, it should be set up just like an order for dine in. The sauce on the french was a 5 out of 10, not amazing not disgusting. It needs LESS LEMON! Someone squeezed an entire lemon on the finished product, I could tell because only the chicken was super lemony and there were seeds everywhere (gross) . If they could change that sauce around a little bit maybe more butter or sherry? This would be my go-to. I also ordered their Arachini, I must say that was the best I've ever had! Absolutely delicious, I had some left over and it was even better reheated. Good job with that! Would have been a 5 out of 5 if I was in love with that french sauce. Bella Pasta on Ridgeway has the best French I've ever tasted, wish I could combine you two! Its 2019 food delivery services are taking off, I'm happy you folks decided to hop into it! Work on that menu with Postmates and I think a lot more people will use that service. I know people review the drivers and that gives the restuarant a bad rating, that's why I give a detailed review of my experience. Most business owners respect that and actually give me a response. This isnt the last time I will be ordering, wish more people reviewed your most popular items, also some websites have a star next to their hot ticket items, maybe you could try that.

Read moreThe food was very good, however the staff proportions were very badly done by whoever was managing. They had 2 or 3 servers working and about 5 or 6 bussers working with a completely full restaurant. It took almost two hours total to sit, order drinks and food, and then wait over an hour for the food. I ordered linguine with marinara, and it came with cheese ontop which the menu did not state was the case. As someone who has severe GI issues and am lactose intolerant this is a major issue. Not to mention those who actually have milk allergies could be in major trouble. So everybody else finished their meals while we waited another 30 minutes for mine to come out. Because the servers were way over worked (I will say those servers were great though and were doing all they could to handle a completely full restaurant with just the two or three of them. They remained smiling and pleasant as could be and very efficient with the work load they wrongfully had to endure. They deserve immense raises.) I will definitely go back because one night like this shouldn't define a restaurant when the food was so good.
A few other notes: The floor is far too slippery to the point my leg just tapping the back of my chair when I went to sit down almost caused me to fall. Same with other members of our party. The lights kept flickering as if there's a major electrical problem going on there giving me a splitting headache, and the sound was so loud in there we couldn't hear eachother at the table and were mostly silent because otherwise we had to scream to one another to hear. Could use some noise dampening of some sort, perhaps some carpets or throw rugs under tables which would absorb sound as well as diminish the sliding of the chairs being so drastic.
