This is one of those times where the memories of what Cinnabon was ten years ago, before the healthily and organic craze began, are best left alone. You see, I grew up near a Cinnabon all my childhood so I KNOW what a Cinnabon can be like at its best. When I heard of a Cinnabon moving into Crossgates, I was pretty excited. I could once again experience a delicious piece of my childhood, yet what I found was disappointment.
First the good. The staff are friendly and fast, two things a small Cinnabon like this needs when lines can sometimes last up to fifteen minutes. Cinnabon is popular, there's no getting around that, and like many popular chains they need employees who don't break under pressure.
The store itself if pretty well lit and very clean looking, even if it is one of the smallest Cinnabons I have ever seen. Now I do have to say this is a brand spanking new location, so perhaps this will change in a year or two of it being open. This summer will be a really big test for the cleanliness of the kitchen, as flies begin their annoying process of infiltrating the mall and buzzing around the restaurants. I've seen many a new store be hit big time by bugs in the summer, I just hope this Cinnabon is ready.
Ok, so here's the deal with that disappointment. On my particular visit I ordered one Classic Cinnabon, the original Cinnabon and Cinnabon's staple. The Cinnabon was still nice and warm, although it was nearing closing time for most of the shops within Crossgates. When I got home I was ready to indulge, expecting a gooey-sweet cinnamon spread baked between layers of flakey, thick, and moist bread. An indulgent helping of the rich cream cheese frosting just oozing down the sides of the bread, all coming together to take me back to when I was a tubby little kid stuffing his fat face with one of these.
What I got was thin bread with a thin spread of the cinnamon tar, the spread so thin that at points the bread had dried out and become hard. The frosting was still rich, but there was just not enough. Every bite should have a bit of frosting included, but there I was, finished with the frosting like a cupcake with too much cake and too little topping. Everything came together to leave me disappointed, heck, I make better Cinnabons at home when I buy the Pillsbury Cinnabon kits.
I don't know if it was just this particular location, or if it was just a bad batch. All I know was that I regretted spending the money for one, and not because I felt like that fat little kid again but because I felt cheated.
So the Cinnabon at Crossgates gets a 3/5 for their quality service but...
Read moreI ordered a pack of 6 cinnabons last night. My order never came, the driver never called my number if they had a question about directions....even though I provide detailed information in additional information section. I live on a main street so my home is easy to find. Online I tracked my order which read that my order had been successfully delivered! I didn't get my food so I had to call grubhub and wait for them to call the driver. Apparently the driver gave my food to the wrong person at an entirely seperate address! I'm so sick of these restaurants packaging our food and not caring what happens after it leaves the store as well. The stores feel like they did their part once the order leaves and that's untrue. You pay for grubhub delivery service. You choose to conduct business with grubhub in order to have a delivery service, therfore you are responsible. That's so annoying, looking forward to receiving food or a service and being let down. Driver's sometimes skip out with customer's food too. If it's something they enjoy and it's their last delivery, they will steal and lie. It's happened before! It's not fair and it's rude! Now Cinnabon decided not to deliver to my address as if I did something wrong! This was a blessing in disquise. I am disgusted with...
Read moreI have to say I’m a little disappointed in my visit to the Cinnabon in Crossgates mall. I’ve grew up loving being able to go to the local mall after Christmas especially because it meant we got to enjoy a fresh Cinnabon roll. This particular location during this particular visited was pretty subpar. The gentleman at the counter was friendly however the mini Cinnabons I received were extremely hard, not fresh at all… not even close. Was charged extra for a little container of frosting that I didn’t ask for (did not notice until later when I looked at the receipt). I will say the lemonade was very refreshing and tasted very fresh… that was about the only thing that was worth the $...
