I never bother to write a review but since I'm being asked.. I've been real exited to go here for month and as a mom who doesn't get to enjoy a date night alone with hubby this was finally going to be the night. Well most importantly the Quesabiria was good and huge so no complaints in that department but the service was lacking and the ambiance and whole appearance of the place left me disappointed. We walked in as 1st timers and no one was there to greet us so we awkwardly walked in to the counter thinking you must have to place the order and then sit yourself, someone eventually asked if we were dining in or taking out and seated us... As soon as we sat she asked if we wanted drinks but didn't give us any run down on the options that I later saw on a TV screen that were not in the menu. Also the lady who took our order never came back but there was another waitress and I guess a random lady who just looked to be cleaning so I stopped her to ask for Togo boxes and some more soup to go, the other waitress (not ours) aporoached the table because that "cleaning lady" dint speak English and dint understand what I was asking... We sat for a while waiting for our bill once we had boxed and bagged up our food so you could clearly see we were ready to go but still our waitress never showed and eventually the others waitress asked if we were ready to pay but I wanted to get the desert to go 1st and wasn't sure what a Napolitano flan was (I assumed it would be like a neopolitan version of a flan with chocolate, vanilla and a strawberry layer) she was dismissive in explaining what it was and just said it's a Mexican cheesecake (now I'm dominican so I'm very aware of what a Flan is but what if I never heard or seen one before) I wish they would of had a picture or detail describing it or even just showed it to me before adding it to my bill and giving me this sad little thin piece of dry flan smh. When finally I saw our original waitress I told her we were ready to pay and she seemed surprised and asked if the other girl hadn't rung us out... She went to the counter and was hollering back and forth to us what else we ordered (unprofessional) then brought the slip and walked away but we already had our card out ready to pay since we were sitting so long 🤦🏾♂️ the cleaning lady just came up and grabbed the card but dint check us out either cause I'm guessing she didn't know how and looked to be looking for our waitress.. Although the food was delicious At this point I was so annoyed with the sloppy service that we decided not to tip because honestly who were we tipping? I probably should of asked to see the cool and just tipped them and the cleaning lady who brought me more soup and the Togo containers 😂
Anyways, I would recommend just getting your food to go instead of dining in because I don't...
Read moreSo I want to start off with that the only reason I came here is because the pictures Mexico City puts on their Instagram account but this pictures really did fool me.
Never have had a worse experience with just food before.
We ordered 4 $1 tacos each. I ordered a 2 pastor, carnitas, and cricket. The only one I ate completely was the crickets one and even then I shouldn't have because the seasoning was too much. The quality of the carnitas was terrible, not use to it being blocky chunks the way they served it (in Mexico its usually super shredded) and even then most of the chunks was just pure fat no meat. Al Pastor it seemed like it was the same exact meat on it except they just added seasoning to it.
And yes Al Pastor is Pork just like Carnitas but the process of cooking Al Pastor should be a different one (Called the Trompo, which I doubt they had) so for them to have had the same texture and almost same taste again just one a little bit more seasoned was disappointing
Like I said I took a bite of each taco and left them since they were so bad, the only one I ate completely was the cricket one.
Also what taco place doesn't have a Salsa Bar?!?
They pride themselves on being authentic but nothing was Authentic!
Even little trucks out in the street in Mexico have a salsa bar..
They had a choice of only 3 salsas. First one was a "Pico de Gallo" which was not bad except for the super big chunks of tomato. (The reason it's called Pico de Gallo salsa it's because the tiny little pieces of the tomate, cebolla, y jalapeño)
Second one was a green salsa which was good. But still tasted like half of it comes from a la norteña bottle of green salsa. So not home made.
And the third one which was suppose to be their spiciest one, was a "home made" chipotle sauce. And honestly that one tasted like it was from a Can specifically La Norteña Chipotle you can get at a Price Right.
The only thing that was good was the beans and rice.
If you live in Buffalo, not worth the drive which is what we did.
There's this little joint called Taqueria Rancho La Delicias in Buffalo and that's the only place that never disappoints and is as close to what you'll get to an "Authentic Mexican" taco up here in Buffalo.
We went on a Friday around 5pm and it was dead. Only...
Read moreI wish I had read these reviews before having a meal here. I will never return and all the bad reviews hold serious truth. I should have known right away, from the bathrooms, that this place was not what it seemed. They were unheated, dirty, moldy, without paper towels, (both men's & women's) and had an offensive odor . I waited 10 minutes to get a cup of INSTANT coffee. They do not serve any complimentary chips and pico/salsa. The waitress was nice enough but didn't seem like she waited many tables. I looked for a favorite meal I usually find on all authentic Mex menus but didn't. I asked and THOUGHT I was happy they would oblige me and make it. For $16, no thanks!!! They didn't include the usual beans and rice (which, I tried my boyfriend's...the rice was hard, the refried beans were the worst I have ever had..whole beans, reeked like old pork fat), salad, or Pico on the side. A deep fried item shouldn't be hard to pull off but my food was waaay over-cooked and room temp. I chewed & chewed on the chicken and dry tortilla. It was flavorless- BLAND. They brought out our dishes with 5 min in between the plates, as I have read was other's experience, also. My boyfriend's fajita was a joke for the price. No matter what the owners think, they ARE NOT competitive with that portion size. The soupy-fat-beans, hard rice pebbles were accompanied by a quarter size squirt of sour cream, small portion of lettuce/tomatoes. The meat was not adequate for the price and the tortillas were served in a paper boat to get hard before you got a 2nd. While we wait for this food, were are looking at paint chips everywhere in our window sill. There's termites both inside AND outside the glass pane. Between these and the bathrooms, you have some serious health code violations. As we leave the still empty restaurant, we pass the cooks/owner, eating take out food, and looking like someone who doesn't keep a clean kitchen area. The waitress doesn't return for a few minutes and acts surpised my boyfriend needs change. She dug into her purse for it. I have enjoyed food in the southwest many times & we both order Mexican frequently. Mexico City, I hate writing a bad review but you guys need some serious changes if you want repeat customers. I will...
