El Nopal 1 Restaurant Hempstead — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

The service its really good here. Hospitality and pleasant attitude its unquestionably good. However, the food has taken a turn in the wrong direction. I visited this restaurant almost 2 years ago during a visit to Long Island and it was very good. Now, not so much. I ordered tacos shrimp, asada, and al pastor. The al pastor tacos didnt even have pineapple. Its hard to mess up tacos when the restaruant its a mexican one, and they did. The carne asada plate wasnt appealing either. El Nopal makes delicious Spanish food and has been there for some time now and since has opened a few more locations. I usually go to them for Pupusas which are really good not the best being Salvadorian I’ve had my share but there good enough that I do eat 1-2 times a month. They also make delicious shrimp quesadillas and chicken tostadas. My daughter loves the orchata so overall their pretty good. Very authentic Mexican food. The chicken quesadilla were delicious. The refried beans and chicken breast were good. It chicken needed to be seasoned more and a little less time on the grill to make it less dry. Service was good. Place was well kept. The constant pan handlers and random people walking in trying to sell you things while you're eating was kind of a put off.
