Tati Jos in Franklin Square, NY is a true gem! As a lover of Haitian cuisine, I was blown away by the authentic flavors and warm hospitality of this hidden treasure.
From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in Port-au-Prince. The aroma of rice and beans, fried plantains, and grilled meat filled the air, transporting me to the Caribbean.
But what truly made my experience special was the exceptional care taken by Tati, the owner. She treated me like family, ensuring that I had everything I needed and making recommendations to enhance my dining experience.
I ordered a variety of dishes, and each one was more delicious than the last. The Akra (fried malanga fritters) with fried plantains was crispy perfection. The Taso (fried meat patties) and Griot (braised beef) were tender and full of flavor. And the Haitian black rice with stew chicken was a masterclass in comfort food.
Tati's attention to detail and genuine warmth made all the difference. She checked in on me throughout my meal, ensuring that everything was to my liking. Her passion for Haitian cuisine and culture is evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the decor to the music to the incredible food.
Tati Jos is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Haitian cuisine in the Long Island area. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food is simply delicious.

Read moreGood food. Good Haitian food. I took a friend who I introduced to Haitian food a couple of weeks ago. He loved this place even more! The presentation was really nice. Really good food on these cool looking afro-caribbean looking plates. The red beans and rice were so good that you didn't need put sauce on the. The Gryot was so just right that I kept eating some of it even though I was full. My friend had the fried Chicken. None breaded. Tasty as heck. Some people like to put sauce on the chicken... But we both thought it didn't need it. I was really pleasantly surprised by the macaroni and cheese. Cheesy with a hint of some other flavors that complimented it well. I was only going to taste a bite but finish the whole thing. My friend is insisting that we go back again so they can try other dishes. The host/owner? Really took her time to walk my friend through the different types of Haitian foods and preparation...this was a patient and very warm touch... which made him feel very welcome. Oh, I forgot to mention that we shared some oxtail. I really liked the flavor. I am saving this location and going back again. With more friends and family. If you've never had Haitian food... This is a friendly and delicious...
Read moreI had a repass at the restaurant. We agreed on 5 platters for about 20 guests. First of all the owner told me the doors will open at 1pm. I thought the food will be ready by then because most of my relatives came from out of state and came straight to the funeral and the burial. We sat for an hour and half. She never served the food. Some had to walk out. The plantains were stale. The griot wasn't freshly made. The chicken as well. The macaroni and the salad were ok. I had an overflow of 15 people. She just reduce the servings per people. She didn't not add anymore food. I was there the whole time. She never made me aware that they were more peopletgat she would charge me more. At the end of the meal, she told me I would have to pay her $270 more. While she had already charged me $700 for the 5 platters. She didn't even put water out for people to drink. We had to ask her for water. How much is a case of 40 bottles of water? It's unfortunate that the owner chose to take advantage of my mother's funeral to get more money from me.
This is so unethical. I will not recommend anyone to have Tati Jo's Caribbean Bistro to cater any event. She needs to hire someone who knows how to run...
