Wasn't aware pizza was to be burnt to be good. Requesting to have it not burnt i was made to feel i had no business asking . Its made that way. Well could i have it say..., " toasted" not burnt. NO ! ITS ONLY COOKED ONE WAY . Well as we tryed choaking down to try and find some good out of it we noticed not all pies coming out were burnt. Some bubbles of the dough were black but the main part was toasted , so i knew it could come out as i asked . But i felt, since someone failed to time the pie right , i was going the get served reguardless of its burnt crust. What came to mind was, I was going to pay for a someones mistake that the shop could afford to satisfy the customer. That it was the chefs talent was in question. When i said something. It became an insult requesting anything less . As if, buring a pizza was a culinary Delight that no one has created before now. I like dark toast as much as anyone trying to get that woodseu/nutty flavor, but burnt !. Burnt Is only good for the digestion not for the taste. Toasted creates a woody and nutty taste. That is the desired and attempted by many culinary experts. Its timing to get it just right. If Ramsey or Flay, or even Guy, were trying it, they would choke! trying to eat "MY PIE" I was served . I could bet my house on it. Why my rant is so descriptive, is because i seen with my eyes other pies not burned to a crisp. And justifying it dispite my dissatisfaction and questioning it. I would never patronize the business again , not because the pie was burnt bad but because i was made to feel i had no right to question the skills of the chefs. That i didnt question to start off. But watching later, Knowing very well others were diffrent..... visually diffrent. At that point it was lies that were handed out . No interest in satisfying the coustomer complaints. Just lies, So beware of the continuity of your order , there is none ! And dont say anything just grin and bear it. God knows what come of it if you do. PS each time someone complains on comments they say we will review with the team. This includes burnt pies, also a fella wasn't allowed to eat "HIS" slice while waiting for his other thing .and offering to do so at the bar adding a beer to his bill while waiting , the bloke had to go to his car to eat and wait. This is what i meant by making them making the coustomer the problem. Hes not coming back ! , he'll do westbury instead, they have better manners and likely toasted pizza not burnt. Anthony's give the customer what they want. And if they want burnt, give them burnt . but serve the rest with a properly toasted pizza. Just because the sigh says char broil pizza doesn say char...

EXPERIENCE:
TOMATOES ON TRADITIONAL PIZZA?...YUCK! Their pizza has a very thin layer of cheese, pepperonies, and tomatoes on their pizza. Our pizza was just only to be cheese and pepperonies for toppings. Most of the cheese was on one slice. The crust is made really really thin and makes up 7/8 of the actual pie....so your 16" pizza becomes a 14"pie(2" crust all around instead of 1"). It is like dried breadstick in texture. After asking a local business manager across the street, they said that this is how they make their pizza crust. This is not NY traditional pizza.
When I ordered the pizza, and asked if they serve a 16" tradtional pizza, that is what I expected. I really wanted to have traditional NY Style pizza that I grew up on. When you ask for traditional pizza in NY, you expect to get just that! THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Traditional Pizza from NY is what I grew up on. Cheesy slice heated enough so the bottom is toasted and browned slightly. The crust around the pizza is about an inch (not 2" like this one) and toasted enough but still chewable. The pizza is heated to the point the natural cheese oil appears before taken out of oven....and no tomatoes on it. -This pizza is not that!
CONCLUSION:
Typical BAIT AND SWITCH! This is what I disliked about this experience. Call it what it is on the phone but dont call it TRADITIONAL PIZZA IN NEW YORK...it is really a 14" pizza with extra crust. It is more of a mix of a chicago traditional thin crust and a Trenton traditional style pizza(has tomatoes) and not even that good. You may like it, I dont know your taste. However, if you know what your pizza is suppose to be like, this experience then becomes disappointing. $22.50 for this pie? Wow!
You feel like your in a pizzeria when you walk in. That is why I gave 2 Stars. It might have been 3 STARS if the staff was friendly. If the food was also good then maybe 4 STARS. If it was Great, then 5 Stars. Since I have no experience with this resturant except picking it up, I will give it a 2. It would have been only 1 STAR if it was delievered and based solely for their pizza
IF NY TRADITIONAL STYLE IS WHAT YOU EXPECT, GO...
Read moreHad a disappointing experience with Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. I’ve never been there, and now definitely never will. My friends and I wanted to order delivery, and looked at their website to know what to order. While on their website, we noticed we were able to order delivery online- great! We figured this was perfect, as we knew our order would be correct and easy. When trying to place the order for the fettuccine alfredo, the form informed us we were not able to add it- as it was not available a for delivery option. Disappointed, my friend called the store to figure out if there was a way to order it. While the man on the phone interrupted my friend trying to explain what happened, he explained that we should be able to order the lunch special for delivery. We hungup and tried the website again. Again, we were informed that it was unable to add to the order. Calling back, we now had a women who stated they do not do delivery orders over the phone. While we didn’t even want to call it in, we had no other option since the website wasn’t working. She then informed us that the only way to order delivery was from the website, and if there’s any issues on the website, they have no control over it. How does this make sense? They were willing to lose out on a customer than to either 1) see what the problem was on the website or 2) just this one time take the delivery order over the phone. We were shocked they were willing to lose out on business like tha.. Make sure you’re careful on the website and know that if you have an issue with it, they don’t have...
