I go to this McDonald's regularly as well as doordash for them throughout the week. Same things can be said about McDonald's uptown and downtown. The customer service is spotty. Many times I go and the staff are accommodating but not very friendly. They say they're understaffed but when I go during the day there's at least six to seven employees on duty at any given time. Most of which are at least somewhat nice and accommodating. However at night the story is much different. At both McDonald's in Ithaca you'll find that the managers are very rude and not helpful most of the time. They do not have the staff to accommodate most of their late-night rushes so the staff become frustrated and it's pretty obvious. Many times during my visits I have gotten attitude just for asking for my order or trying to make sure everything is correct. Not only that but in a primarily English-speaking town they have primarily foreign language speaking employees running the drive-thru. This makes it extremely difficult to communicate with them even on something as simple as a four-digit number. There have been many of times where my order was made incorrectly and I was refused service after trying to explain that my order was incorrect. During my delivery orders I found that they actually shut the lights off on the outside of the store and in the parking lot when they're busy so that people driving by think that they're closed when in fact they are a 24/7 this is just ridiculous and I hope that the district manager of these restaurants see this review. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 12 plus years. I have actually worked at both locations in the past and I have never seen such customer service. I'm usually not one to complain either because I understand how stressful it can be but these things have happened to me on multiple occasions. And I'm not one to leave negative reviews unless I feel it absolutely necessary. Hopefully McDonald's can spruce itself up and start to change for the good once again. I do appreciate everyone who has provided me a good experience at the stores in Ithaca. You know who you are. These people can make the difference of a good day and a bad day for most people who visit, including myself. My only other side note is that I wish they would bring back the $1 any size coffee. 👌 I'd go there...
Read moreThis is the most disorganized and shabbily ran McDonald's I've ever experienced. I understand COVID has impacted many places, but this comes from even before pandemic era problems.
Today I went and ordered a very simple meal. A chicken sandwich, and a drink (which is self serve). This restaurant does not take orders at the counter and you must use the kiosk. I waited for 20 minutes and saw on the screen my order number was in the "now serving" section. It was never brought to the counter. People were coming to the counter asking where their orders were, and despite having a list on their screen in the back and looking at it the sole employee at the desk was taking orders from people who already placed their orders without confirming anything. I saw a handful of college kids walk up to the front no receipts in hand taking advantage of the chaos asking for food that the clearly hadn't ordered in the first place.
I saw a family walk up to ask about where their order was, they asked for five 6pc McChickens. This was then changed to "oh no, these are supposed to be 10pc" after verbally stating the orders were for 6pc, they also added in hamburgers that were missing. Who knows what the original order was to be.
After an hour has passed and my patience was done I walked up to ask about my order - again - I needed to give my order to the staff - who repeated it back to me WRONG 3 times - again, this was for a chicken sandwich, and a drink. I was told that order was already filled and was for drive-thru. A couple seconds later I am given my sandwich after it's grabbed by a manager from the back kitchen area.
I don't understand how this place can possibly operate this way.
If a restaurant is doing "kiosk only" to social distance, but you need to verbally tell the staff your order anyways - what's the point?
I wish I could say this was a result of the pandemic, but my experience at this place as been abysmal long before the first COVID news article landed. Before the pandemic I never ate here with a group of people where multiple orders weren't forgotten or given to the entirely wrong people.
On the bright side I guess you can just walk in and ask where your order is for...
Read moreThis is a prime example of a McDonald’s that has significant issues. I’ll give credit, sometimes they did an okay job. But the times they mess up is far more than the times they did right. Their lines are atrocious and they can take forever (like 20 minutes for two double cheeseburgers). I have witnessed multiple times the ice container lid for what I believe is their frozen blended drinks not fully covering the machine. With the ice being exposed to open air, I saw tons of flies nearby. While I did not witness a fly in there, it would not surprise me if somebody got some extra protein in their frappe if you know what I mean. There has been ordered items missing quite a few times. I have been given cold food that made me question how long it was sitting out for. This last visit, I received a raw patty in my burger. I definitely did not ask for rare…
It gets harder and harder to justify coming here. On one hand, sure they have good prices and some nice fries. But if it comes at the expense of my health (yes, I recognize the irony of being health-conscious at a fast food place), then I have to completely stop. I cannot afford to sit on the toilet for hours because I ate an undercooked burger or because I had consumed the blended remains of a fly that got done enjoying itself in the bathroom.
By the way, the items mentioned before is a non-comprehensive list of issues with this place. I am sure you can find many more issues (or others repeating the same issues I have had) by going through the first...
