Salt and Pepper here, and they're in effect.
Continuing my exploration of the sub options near my office I had reached Jersey Mike's, a chain I had only one experience with in the past and it was pretty lackluster, dare I say bad. But that was years ago, and maybe it was just the location I was visiting at that time that had messed up so bad. So I'm willing to give Mike another shot.
Ordered online using the website, going for a regular size Chicken Salad and a giant size of a BLO (bacon, lettuce and onion) with extra bacon which came to about $32 before tax and tip. From what I recalled the giant subs are quite long, even compared to the footlong's of Subway, so I felt this price was pretty par for the course in today's time.
Back home I opened everything up, which was neatly wrapped and packaged, find very well managed sandwiches. Both looked display model friendly, and I was quite hungry, so I took a bit of each to test. The chicken salad, which I got on their rosemary parmesan bread, punched me in the mouth with how peppery it was. I like ground back pepper on my chick, yes, but this was the first and last flavor that showed up with each bite. Staggered in between the rosemary and the toppings it came with, I was left seeking something with more meaty substance. So I switched over to the BLO, which proceeded with brine my mouth in a deluge of salt. Holy smokes was their bacon salty! It was nearly to a point where I was having trouble taking multiple bites without first washing my mouth with some liquid refreshment, not good, not good at all. Yet I found if I held the sandwich upside down and let my tongue be subjected to the toppings and bread first, I was able to make it through the salt ridden bacon.
Yeah, not the best foot JM's could have put forward. Yes, the service was quick, yes the food look good, yes the price seems understandable, but boy, the flavor could use some major tweaking. Less pepper in that chicken salad, and do something about the salted bacon.
Be that as it may, I was able to finish the meal, and it did fill me up entirely. So I'd say more like a 3.5 out of 5, but since google doesn't do half stars, I'll bump them up to a...
Read moreThis had to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a fast food restaurant. First, to start off, the employee making the subs is yelling at a customer for telling him what they don't want on their sub. I then make it to my turn to see him brush the lettuce from the prep area back into the lettuce container. I then order my sub and he forgets to add an ingredient and he had already pushed it to the cutter/wrapper. I say please add Russian so he rips it back open and puts a huge glob of dressing from a packet onto my sub not even acknowledging me. Then my boyfriend orders and once again he isn't even able to tell him everything he wants before he pushes it to the wrapper. When we suggest he slows down in order to make the sandwiches correctly he responds back...goodbye!! I am all for quick service but when the quality of the product is severely impacted and the customer service is absolutely atrocious something should be changed. I have never had this kind of experience at other Jersey Mike locations. What...
Read moreI am still waiting a week later for the manager/owner or someone to contact me and to issue a refund to me for the hair that was found in my sub. I wish this was an isolated incident of the issues we have had with this location. I have pictures which I forwarded to their corporate office and I was told I would be contacted by someone in 48 hours. Given the holidays, I waited to hear from them and still nothing. I was also told by the girl working last Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, that my card would be credited the amount for my sub and still nothing. She told me I didn't need to return to the store or bring the sub in but in hindsight, I should have made the trip back to the store and made her refund me then and there. We will never order from this place again. Would not recommend. Also, this isn't my first incident with this sub shop. I would definitely stand there and watch them make it to your liking as they rarely get their online...
