My friend and I ate here last month.. We ordered a wrap and a panini plus a wine and a lemonade. The bread choices we had and the sides we ordered were the regular choices you could pick for these items at no extra charge. The ONLY upcharge listed on the menu were for sweet potato fries or a salad, which we did not order. The prices for both of these items on the menu said $13. (They still do). We were charged $15.00 for these items instead of the $13. Not only that, but the receipt shows two random charges with no explanation - one for $2.50 and one for $1.00. I thought the bill sounded a bit high but my friend had taken the receipt and given it to me after we left and when I got home I discovered that we had been overcharged by $7.50! Apparently $11.00 for a tiny glass of wine wasn't enough? I scanned the receipt and I emailed it to Henrys that same day figuring if I emailed them the actual receipt they would respond. NOTHING. That would be $7.50 plus tax plus tip. Eating out today has become quite the frustrating and tedious thing to do not to mention the price gouging which is going on almost everywhere to the point of ridiculous. This is not a slight overcharge - it is a big overcharge especially when there is no explanation and it totally contradicts the menu. We feel scammed and ripped off. And the service was ridiculously slow - not only waiting for someone to come to our table but to also get our food and the place wasn't even full. I doubt I will go back to Henry's and I will be sure to tell others I know to not go there as well. I hope all of you out there are carefully checking your receipts for food or for whatever...
Read moreA darn shame it's come to this, but I can't give anything higher than a 3/5 based on the meal I dug into at home. Put in an order for pickup and got to the restaurant exactly at when the ready time said it would be, waited for a couple minute while they grabbed my order and was on the road home. Mind you my trip home is about 30 to 45 minutes, so I never deduct points for temperature.
When I did get home and opened everything up I thought it all looked pretty good, and I was very excited to dig into the meal. I was looking forward to it all week long after all. Well let's start with the good, the Turkey Ruben was great! Lot's of turkey, fresh sauerkraut, a nice layer of dressing and the bread was grilled just right. That's the good, now, the bad. The onion rings were floppy and oily, no crunch and no flavor. Their paired sauces did add some of the flavor I sought, but because of how oily they were the sauces were muddled. And the crab corn chowder was really fresh, so fresh it tased like they scooped the crab out of the ocean not minutes before serving it, right along with the ocean. It was the most salty soup I have had in years, I could almost hear the salt crunch in my teeth as I ate it. Yucky.
A true shame that only 1/3 of my meal items were passable, since I was recommended this location by a family friend. Unfortunately I do not see myself returning for my Friday restaurant...
Read moreHenry's Tavern was a fun night out with friends. We had heard good things about the food and I was excited to try it for myself. We started with 2 flavors of wings, both excellent (maple bourbon and the spicy bbq). Wings were meaty and flavorful. Also ordered the Irish nachos as an appetizer and loved them as well. Waffle fries were crispy and delicious and there was plenty of corned beef and cheese on top. No one ordered dinners, but we did add a few more appetizers and soup for the next course. French onion soup was delicious - flavorful and rich. Boneless wings also great (their blue cheese is clearly homemade and I wanted to take a pint of it home with me). I was personally not a fan of the onion rings or the mozzarella sticks. The onion rings were thick and soft, the exact opposite of my preference for thin and crispy. If that is the kind you like, though, these would be perfect. Mozzarella sticks were odd- like huge logs of mozzarella, lightly breaded but without any real seasoning, and just warmed. No crispy coating, kind of like eating a warm slab of cheese. I would be interested in going back to try out the meals next; several of the sandwiches/burgers and the fish and chips seemed appealing too. Also, they are currently holding Wing Night Wednesdays, with $1 wings, so a dozen would be $12...
