Update: the owner responded but decided to completely ignore the reasons for me being upset and it was the condescending tone of his employee on more than one instance. To further prove my point below about the “Dijon aioli”, the guy at the counter is even more in the wrong because when I mentioned I don’t like Dijon mustard, he never told me what type of mustard is being actually being used. His focus was telling me the definition of Dijon aioli in a condescending tone. Maybe don’t have Dijon in the name if that’s not the actual ingredient.

The owner also ignored my comment about how underwhelming the salami sandwich was, which I’ll add looks horrible too. He decided to bring up Chick Fil A for some strange reason. Now I’m dropping my score even further for these reasons.

Tip to the owner: none of this review would have happened negatively if your employee simply knew how to speak to customers and not make such a big deal about a 1-ingredient sandwich. Do better with understanding reviews and offer to reach out to the customer who is upset to try and get a better understanding. You’ll have much less of these issues.

I’ll preface this review with the first line on their sandwiches menu: “We'll make your sandwich your way if you want“:

I’ll never understand sandwich places that struggle to comprehend someone requesting a 1 ingredient sandwich. I asked for a sandwich for myself and then a sandwich for my wife (salami on a roll, nothing else)…gentlemen at the counter seemed very perplexed, “so…salami, on a roll, nothing else” (which came off sort of condescending to me) and I replied “yep, basics of basic”. When he turned to give the order to the sandwich prepper, I overheard “…and liiiteralllly, salami on a roll” again, in a strange way. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and I hear “how would we charge…liiiterallly salami and a roll” and AGAIN sounding a bit sarcastic. I’m not asking for razor blades on a roll with 10 different toppings, I don’t understand the mental gymnastics for the easiest and most basic sandwich they will ever make.

On top of that, after I placed my order I asked “instead of the Dijon aioli, can I just get regular mustard and mayo?”. He pauses and says “it’s liiiterally the same thing”, and AGAIN coming off condescending. I say “right, but I don’t like Dijon mustard, if there’s regular or brown mustard I’m good with this”. The prepper points to the mustard I pointed at and said that’s the one they use and I decided it was fine and not to make any changes to my sandwich.

The salami sandwich was ok, pretty damn underwhelming for the little they gave us.

My sandwich was the Pi Alpha Nu, which was good and I’d get it again.

Service irritated me and made me uncomfortable, especially while observing the other interactions he had with other customers (which was better than mine), this resulted in ZERO tip and a...

Frank's is my go-to for the absolute best sandwiches in New Paltz -- maybe the best in the entire Hudson Valley. My personal favorite is the Pi Alpha Nu but I've tried several other sandwiches, and they're all delicious. Everything is always fresh and made-to-order, and prepared with a smile and friendly conversation. If you go, don't miss out on the sides in the deli case -- the chickpea salad and creamy potato salad are especially tasty. I can also vouch for Frank's catering. I used it for a party recently and could not have been more satisfied with the experience. Frank was excellent at communicating with us to build a menu, and even came up with some new customized options based on our discussions. We ended up getting a 3-foot sub, Thai chicken meatballs (a huge hit at the party), and an assortment of side dishes and salads. Our guests could not stop talking about how much they...

Our experience at Franks Fresh Pickling was HORRENDOUS. Upon arrival we were bullied and talked down to as customers. My friend mispronounced the sandwich name and the employee mocked her to her face and left to go to the bathroom...when our sandwiches were "ready", he made fun of the way she said it again and then we were only given once sandwich. When we told the larger older man working that we had another sandwich he responded with "You need to speak up." We left the establishment already irritated with the lack of respect from the employees. For the finale, our sandwiches were made wrong??? I don't know how that is possible after the countless altercations we had previously but Frank the owner should fire the rude larger man because his sandwich making...

This weekend was my first time visiting New Paltz and my girlfriend and I stopped by this place as soon as we saw pickles (I love pickled food) I bought a pineapple habanero hot sauce and a jar of their dill pickles with garlic. The hot sauce was absolutely fantastic, very spicy just as the owner warned me, but delicious and the pickles were so acidic and tart yet sweet and savory. They have lots of things like pickled jalapenos, different home made juices and mixes and a lot of sandwiches, Frank's is a must stop for anyone who likes pickled foods with good sandwiches with great sauces.

I’m not sure why I’ve never written a review for Frank’s, but I’m finally getting around to it! If you want the most delicious, fresh, and affordable sandwich you’ve eaten in a decade, you’ve got to get to Frank’s. They are incredibly friendly in there, and I have tried a number of sandwiches off of the menu and never once been disappointed. My absolutely favorite business to patronize for lunch in New Paltz.
