EDIT: from 4 to 2 stars- Unfortunately, this place has really gone down hill. The bagels are always dry, and the challah has consistently been burnt every time. I tried door dashing from them for the first time and it came in a small brown bag with the baked goods sticking out of it- not stapled shut or anything. It didn’t even surprise me because there has been a lack of attention at The Bakery over the past few months, and it’s only gotten worse. The atmosphere is nice, but it doesn’t really outweigh the bad parts- I won’t be as frequent unfortunately, but I will definitely continue to give it a shot and support and update the review if it gets better.

OLD REVIEW: A really great place to come in the morning before work. I’ve only had the baked goods, but they’re all great. The bagels, for me, are the perfect size and they taste really good! The only reason it’s lost one star is because it’s just a little expensive. $8 for a bagel with cream cheese and a latte (both delicious), and the croissants are like $3.50 each. however all the other cafes in NP are the same, so maybe there’s an external factor I’m just unaware of that makes it pricey. My main issue is that there is never any challah anymore… I would come every weekend to a boat load of loaves and pick the best and buy it and share with friends- now even in the mornings, there is MAYBE one loaf. I believe they make it on Fridays, but they used to on Saturday too if I’m not mistaken- regardless, I hardly see it anymore. As a Jewish man, I’m really hoping the new ownership cares for the Jewish community in the way the last owners did. Maybe I just happen to always come right before they put new loaves out, but just figured I’d note this. Final note- it’s not wheelchair accessible. Yes, you can get in the building on a wheelchair, but during cold months there is no where to sit downstairs- and no elevator. Similar with some other reviews I’ve seen, the bakery is amazing and has potential to be perfect, just with a few minor...

Fantastic veggie chili (I wish they still had it every day in the winter like they used to) and great chicken salad. The chocolate Velvet Torte is a holiday favorite. My wife used to love the veggie reuben, but she has been consistently disappointed with them in the last year or so. The bagels are atypical, but quite good...except when they are not. Sometimes, they taste completely different. More like regular bread (no barely malt?). Today, the bagel was so overcooked - very hard. The staff is very friendly, but I'm sorry to say they make a fair amount of mistakes. Not toasting bread, multi grain bagel instead of regular, etc.

Update 2 weeks later: Today I got 2 bagels and was charged sales tax for the first time. In the past it has been: bagel - no tax...sandwich - tax. And...they forgot to toast one of the bagels.

Update months later: They just get worse and worse. I've ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a toasted roll dozens of times. They essentially never toast the roll. It's pretty unbelievable. Just lowered the # of stars...

Update months later: I ordered a cake online for Thanksgiving and they someone didn't get the order! Planned to bring it to a family get together - had to scramble on Thanksgiving morning. FYI - the chocolate torte is great...too bad noone could try it. Service...

NON MALE FRIENDLY PLACE. Ive gone to this place multiple times and every time I walk in I give a smile and in return I get a dirty look I dont know why. I dont order food anymore because its not worth the service, i just go to pick up orders. The service is horrible. One order i picked up here there were 4 servers and one older lady. none of the servers greeted me just get a quick glance as i was standing by the register, they all ignored me and served other customers. finally after about 10 minutes the older lady came over and just said "what are you here for" I said Im here for a pick up again she said " okay, what are you here for". her demeanor was like she doesnt like you. very rude. The last pick up I did there was no body in the place and 2 servers, again I walked in with a smile and in return I got a quick dirty look and no greeting.. I walked to the register and the 2 servers ignored me. after about 5 minutes one server started to walk over but then turned back around to continue to talk to the other server. 2 minutes later she turns back around comes over and just says "Hi".. Im the only one there mind you.. This is the service I get ever time I go here. You figure a woman ran business it would be more friendly and...

I haven't been to this place in years and I'm SO glad that I went. The only complaint that I had was maybe a third person behind the counter would have been helpful because the wait was kind of long. However, it was worth every second. I got a sandwich on the best ciabatta bread I'd ever had. The sandwich had to weigh nearly a pound. I could barely finish half of it! They had amazing seasonal flavored coffee, staff was really nice, and I picked up a gorgeous pie for a dinner party and everyone was impressed with the taste and quality. I wish I lived closer to this place (or maybe not, because I can't imagine how many calories I invested after visiting...)

This is one of my favorite places, ever. It's tucked away like a hidden gem for locals with outdoor seating and a loft over the bakery area with indoor seating and a play area for kids. It's one of the only places I can go to eat out with my child and actually relax!!!!! There's a wide variety of foods, not just baked goods but breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as hot and cold coffees, teas, espresso drinks, and brand drinks for the picky ones (like bottled juice, seltzer, etc.) I appreciate they celebrate and bake for all different holidays. When I've ordered cakes the bakers have done amazing work. I FREAKING LOVE THIS PLACE
