I loved the food. My friend and I both ordered coffee, we split a toast, and each ordered an entree. I ordered the chicken and waffles (amazing), and she ordered the biscuits and gravy. I had a bite of her food and it was also great. The coffee was also amazing.

The food is a little pricey, but right on par for New Paltz and totally worth the price for how great it was. The food came out on time and our server kept our cups full of water. Overall, great.

However, the one thing that really upset me was that once we were done eating and paid, we were sitting and chatting and we were asked to leave to give the table to the next guest (to reduce wait for them). Between two coffees, an app, and two entrees, we dropped about $60 on brunch (again totally appropriate given the quality of the food and the area). However, that amount of money should allow us to sit and talk after we enjoyed our brunch on Sunday morning.

Regardless of how good the food was, that put a really bad taste in my mouth about the service. The ambiance of the restaurant was really great but besides the time to eat our meal, we weren't given the time to appreciate it. I'd really recommend training your staff to allow customers to enjoy their time at the restaurant instead of rushing them out. Giving customers the time at the restaurant, will encourage them...

This was the WORST breakfast experience we've ever had in New Paltz. My wife asks for her cappuccino the same way she always orders it when she's here with friends. When it gets to the table, it looks terrible, and it wasn't made to order. I ordered a coffee, and when I added the cream, a large amount of various-sized slimy brown spots started showing up as the coffee was stirred. It looked as if the pots were uncleaned and some of the residue ended up in my cup. I informed the super unpleasant waitress and she said it just looks like coffee grinds but whatever, she'll get me another one. Nope. I'm not ordering another one when the first one looked like that. When the food got delivered it was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the cost at all. Being that we didnt have any seasonings or condiments 9n the table I had to get up and get it from the server station. The staff was truly inattentive and indifferent, as could be seen by the amount of unswept trash on the patio area. This was the one and only time I'll ever be here until it changes...

Stopped here on a summer Sunday morning figuring college kids will be gone for summer and had no wait at 11:30 for table. Happy to hear breakfast served all day. We sat outside which is partially shaded. Great selection of craft beers, ciders, cocktails and coffees. I had the French toast with fruit and spouse the veggie omelet with their roasted potatoes and both were outstanding. Service was a bit consistent even though not crowded at all. After food didn’t come for a bit a different waitress stopped at table and asked again for our order as she said they lost our ticket. The food came fairly soon after that and while midway through our meals a waiter came out with our original orders. Poor communication going on in kitchen. Waiter never came back to ask if we wanted coffee refills which we would have appreciated. We asked for checks but then still had to go Back inside to find waiter to get bill and pay. Would love to come back though and try some other...

I’m not sure if it feels like a coffee shop, a bar, or a cafe, but that seems to add to Underground’s charm! This location is great for meeting friends or getting work done and it’s even better because so many coffee shops close early. I enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip and espresso martini while my friends loved the loaded fries and their hot honey sandwiches. The one negative was inattentive service even though the restaurant was fully staffed and nearly empty. We had to get our server’s attention multiple times for water refills or even to place our order.

You could simply walk by this place as it is incredibly unassuming. Def stop inside. Great list of beer on tap along with brunch food ! Went with a group of 9. The biggest hit was the biscuits and gravy! Had a mimosa and basic egg platter. The pancakes with fruits are delicious. Highly recommend. The service is friendly and there’s an outdoor section if you have a pet !
