If you haven't been to King and I yet, do yourself a favor and make it your next dinner destination! This hidden gem, nestled in the heart of Nyack, has been a beloved staple for decades—and for good reason. The magic behind this place is the owner, Pom, one of the kindest, most caring people you will ever meet. She creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like family every time you step through the door.
The food? Absolutely unbeatable. If you love Thai food, you must try their Spring Rolls—without a doubt, the best you’ll find outside of Thailand. Crispy, fresh, and bursting with flavor, they’re the perfect way to start your meal. And speaking of starting, don’t miss the soup! It’s a comforting, flavorful delight that sets the stage for everything else to come.
What truly sets King and I apart, though, is the experience. The cozy, home-like vibe invites you to relax and savor your meal, and unlike many places that rush you out the door, Pom and her team want you to stay and enjoy every bite for as long as you'd like. This place isn’t just about great food; it’s about taking the time to enjoy your meal and the company you’re with.
King and I is more than a restaurant; it’s a Nyack institution, and once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand why it’s been a local favorite for so many years. Go, order the Spring Rolls and Soup, and enjoy a dining experience you...
Read moreWhat makes the “King and I” restaurant in Nyack so good? Well if you’re older like me, you may understand that it is because, like the play of the same name, it offers a great presentation of Thai culture.
Pom who owns and runs the restaurant is the heart of the place. She is all that’s right with the world, hard working, kind, creative, and peaceful. She is an authentic Thai woman, who, in her free time, tends to her magnificent garden in her Nyack home.
Her brother-in-law is a great chef; Pom and her sisters do the rest. In a time where so many restaurants claim to be family owned and operated, it’s refreshing to see one that actually is, and so competently and creatively run.
The food is always fresh, with seasonal vegetables coming straight from Pom’s garden. The dishes are varied, colorful, appetizing to the eye, and all the senses, and just plain delicious. There are a few restaurants in Nyack that can compete in food quality, but when you add, the stunning decor, beautiful Thai music, the aura of tranquility and authenticity that surrounds each and every dish, served by the owner, I don’t think it has an equal. When you add the affordable pricing, it’s in a league...
Read moreDon’t go. I wanted to order online, but they have $25 minimum. Called to place an order and asked if there is a different price if paid by cash or card. Couldn’t get a straight answer. Went to pick it up and was charged 15% more than quoted price online! That’s on top of tax! What a nice tip you guys reserve for yourselves. After posting this I got a response from the owner. Here is my reply: Your website doesn’t let me order for pick up, delivery only. The person that handed me my food at the restaurant said it’s the same price whether I pay cash or card. The sign at the restaurant says that the CC surcharge is already built into menu prices. Hence shouldn’t be 4% on top of the menu prices. Even if you charge 4% extra for using the CC, it should have been $18.62 x 1.04 = 19.36, not $21.32. People who aren’t financially savvy will get ripped off at this restaurant. Stand by my first...
