My family and I will definitely avoid this restaurant in the future. If you're looking for a nice quite evening with family, then avoid this place. The ambient is very noisy, but that was not the worse part. My family and I were seated at a table without any table set-up. A man came with forks, spoons, and napkins and left all of it on the table for us to set. He did not ask if we wanted any drinks and placed a jug of water and left. At the same time we received the menu, but then no one came to take our order - until we made eye contact with one of the guys and indicated that we would like to place an order. Next came the food, which was not the best. North India curries, especially the paneer burji, was filled with cream, onions, and no authentic taste to it. The rest of the order too was alright. The worst part was when the cleaning guy decided to start cleaning and sweeping the floor. It was the most obnoxious when he decided to drag all the empty chairs across the restaurant, repeatedly creating loud screeching sounds - of course him or the owner did not care about the fact that we were dining. It was very apparent that the owner wanted us to leave, despite it being 9:15pm and the restaurant closes to public at 9:30pm. Keep in mind, not once did any of the staff member come to ask us if we would like to order anything else and at the end no one asked us if we would like to have deserts. Eventually, I walked up to the counter and asked to make a payment as no one came to us with the bill. This place is extremely unprofessional! The food is very poor to mediocre. Additionally, we were charged an additional 18% on top of our total bill as the restaurant considers a family of four as a large group - something to keep in mind if your going with little children. I have been to many Indian restaurants, and this by far is the worse with...

When it comes to satisfying a craving for Indian food 🥘 on Long Island, I think we can all agree that Hicksville has become the epicenter for this flavorful cuisine.
Today, I was in the mood for a Dosa, 🥞 ( a fried crepe that is stuffed and rolled with a variety of 🥗 and spices 🌿 ) for lunch. One of my favorite places for a large variety of Dosas 🥞is “Chennai Dosas” located small strip center on Broadway in Hicksville.
I ordered the number 57. Paneer🧀 Pondicherry Masala Dosa. A spicy 🌶️ crepe🥞 rolled with potato🥔, paneer🧀, onions🧅, peas 🫛,and aromatic spices 🌿The Dosas are all served with 3 types of dipping chutneys: a coconut 🥥 chutney, Sangar: a spicy 🌶️ lentil chutney broth 🥣 with green peppers 🫑, onions 🧅, and a red pepper 🌶️ chutney…each with very different flavors.
I also ordered a side of Poppadum ( a lightly fried lentil floured tortilla of sorts) which was light, crisp and delicious. It goes great with the sweet tamarind sauce that accompanied it.
Chennai Dosas is an authentic vegetarian Indian restaurant that has gotten strong reviews from Newsday 📖 and The New York Times 📖. It is modest in decor with a very attentive staff and prices 💸 that are soooo reasonable.
When you want to expand your food horizons, give Chennai Dosas a try. And if you need help when ordering, don’t be Afraid to ask for assistance. See the menu 📕 in the pics below. Give it a try & Enjoy...
Read moreI visited this place with my family and I discussed their experience at the restaurant and we all came to the conclusion that 3 out of 5 would be the best decision. We ordered coffee (3 stars), Mini idli (4 stars), onion rava masala dosa (2.5 stars), and Chennai dosa(3 stars). The potato tastes sweet and it does not have any proper flavor. They add cumin seeds more which overpower the overall taste of dosa. Sambar was delicious and Vada sambar (4 stars). The price is very reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. The ambiance is not so good they have decorations for Diwali I will share pictures too. Diwali was celebrated on Nov 12, 2023. The waiting time to get your food at the table is super slow. When asked if it's taking too much time the response was that rava dosa takes more time to cook lol 😆. I mean do you think we have never tasted South Indian food? I have enjoyed authentic Indian food in Bangalore, Kerala, Munnar, Thiruvananthapuram, Puducherry, Vellore, and many more places and I have tasted food at my friend's house who lives in south India and I know how much time it takes to cook and how south Indian food taste. I don't think that I will go to this place again however I will recommend others to...
