Village Soul of India in Hicksville is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic South Indian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The menu is a delightful journey through the rich and diverse flavors of South India. Each dish is crafted with precision and passion, ensuring an authentic taste that is hard to find elsewhere. The dosas are perfectly crispy, with a generous filling that bursts with flavor. The sambar and chutneys that accompany them are simply divine, adding the perfect balance of spice and tang. One standout dish is their Onion Rava Masala Dosa, which is fragrant, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The use of aromatic spices and vegetables makes it a must-try. Another highlight is the idli and vada platter, which is light, fluffy, and paired with delectable dipping sauces. The service at Village Soul of India is impeccable. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to offer recommendations based on your preferences. They make you feel right at home, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether you are a long-time fan of South Indian cuisine or a newcomer looking to explore new flavors, Village Soul of India is a must-visit. It’s a place where tradition meets taste, and every meal feels like a celebration of South Indian culinary heritage. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. Ambiance: it’s a very casual restaurant. It’s also a bit small so if you’re coming with a big group, I advise that you call ahead. It’s a simple set up for a comfortable hangout or dinner. It’s a great place to bring someone who wants to try authentic Indian food. Food: I LOVED their dosa. It was a large size and the sambhar it came with was so flavorful and delicious. They have us refills too which is great. The chutney it came with was nice - was a good contrast to the sambhar. We also LOVED the dry Manchurian. It was so crispy and well seasoned and sauced. We enjoyed it so much we ended up getting a second order. Service: they were very busy but service was still great. They were patient and answered all our questions and took our order quickly. The food took awhile to come out. Price: very reasonably priced and worth it too considering the large portion sizes. As an Indian myself, I can confidently say that this restaurant serves some of the most authentic and high-quality Indian food I've had. We've known the owner for a long time, and it's been such a joy to see him open up this place. We've tried several dishes here since its opening, and each one has been fantastic. Recently, we ordered Jain food for a special event, and I have to say, this is one area where many local Indian restaurants fall short when it comes to maintaining the right flavors. But this restaurant nailed it—everything was perfectly done, and our guests loved it too! Another major plus is that it's a completely vegetarian restaurant, which makes it even more special. You can trust that anything on the menu will be top-notch. Highly recommend giving it a try—you won’t be disappointed!

Unfriendly and impolite greeters and servers- gave us stoic looks as we entered - no smiles. Blatantly displayed discriminatory behaviors towards my friend and I, who are overtly Muslim. We asked to sit near the window (this was mid afternoon and the restaurant had two other people dining). We were rudely told no because the table was a four person table and we had to stay on the two people table. We obliged. 5 minutes later, a Gujarati couple walks in (they were speaking the language) and asks for the same four people table and the SAME female server tends to them politely and separates the four people table into two! I asked her why she didn't do that for us and all she could say was the other couple were really breaking the rules and she couldn't do anything about it! No apologies or anything. A big part of dining out is customer service and this place failed in...
