You would think a restaurant with "Guacamole" in its name would feature guacamole in its dishes. Not so in this little place. For an additional 1.85 you can add the ingredient that probably brought you in the door in the first place to your burrito or taco order. This place is sadly becoming another line on the growing list of restaurants that are designed to make money first and decent food second. The website, and other comments, state the food is made fresh "right before your eyes" when in fact the final assembly of your pre-prepared meats and additions is all you get to see. How long it has all been sitting in the Subway-esque layout is anyone's guess (my al pastor burrito purchased an hour before closing on a Friday night tasted aged in the bad way.) The cilantro was probably fresh at some point that same day, but the preparation was rushed. Sand and grit was evident on the cilantro and could not be ignored. The portion size of the burrito and salad were below average and weren't reflective of their pricing. Sodas and drinks were spendy and of limited variety. I liked the smaller menu and good topping choices that seemed to be telling me there was no wrong choice, only what I was craving for. But it all fell flat and failed to deliver. I can't recommend this place unless you expect to be disappointed with the food OR the bill, and can live without knowing you shouldn't have to compromise. Sad. Sounded like and seemed like this place had potential to be great in a market without a great authentic mexican place. Will look...
Read moreWe really enjoyed this place. I love that they have Mexican soda. My kids really enjoyed the mango flavor. The meats were all very tasty. The kids' meals come with black beans and rice and apple juice. Those are my son's favorite foods. The torte was delicious! I love that the bread was crunchy. They offer a wide variety of toppings. My daughter really liked that the homemade tortilla chips had a hint of lime on them. I liked that they were not super salty. The guacamole was good, but I'm not sure it was worth the extra cost. The churros were everyone's favorite part! The honey dipping sauce was so good that my son wanted to lick the container. They also come with the kid's meal. We got two kid's meals so there were 4 fairly large churros. That was nice because then we all got one. My only complaint was about the service. But not the people, the people were great! Even though we ate in, our food was served in to-go containers. I guess it's nice if you don't finish, but kind of weird if you do. Especially being environmentally friendly, I hope they wash and recycle those containers. Plus it was unclear what to do with the containers. We weren't sure if we were supposed to clear our own table or not; and if so where to put the containers. I would definitely go here again! Especially to pick up on...
Read moreThe food here is good and the prices are reasonable. I wouldn't say it is authentic, but good overall. I'll also mention that if you're like me, you like to make reservations so there isn't a long wait. Well, I started calling this place around 3pm and again every 45 minutes and literally nobody ever answered the phone. Now, I came to realize that they don't take reservations, which is fine, but maybe put that on your website, or perhaps answer the phone, or put a recording with your hours and letting people know that can't make reservations so they don't keep calling.
Outside of that, the bar staff was attentive and super friendly while we waited about 45 minutes for a table (6pm on a Wednesday). Our waiter may have been new as he wasn't sure what some of the things were we had questions about, but he was friendly and got us the answers we needed.
Additionally, the place is loud. That's not a terrible thing, but I legit had to yell through cupped hands to the waiter across the table because he couldn't hear me. Not a big deal for me, but for my dad with some hearing issues, he was struggling the whole night to be part of conversations.
At the end of the day, I enjoyed my meal, but takeout make be our next move...
