I updated this review in 2023 for a visit in 2021. I read they changed management, so this review may no longer apply.
2021 review: It's been a long time since I've been legitimately shocked due to a restaurant's food and service. When first walking in, I made a comment to my fiance about the Art Vandelay poster. He was standing behind a girl cleaning tables, who thought I was speaking to her and ripped out an ear bud and said, "Huh?" And then just stared at me. There was no "I'm sorry, what did you say?" or, "Excuse me?" or even the slightest hint that she was aware of basic manners when addressing strangers. Mentioning Seinfeld invited more uncomfortable blank staring at me, so I motioned awkwardly and said "I was talking to my fiance." She said "oh" and put her earbud back in and kept cleaning tables. Awkward, but no big deal, until you add up the rest of the experience.
We had never been to Moe's before and while the girl who made my order was sweet and helpful, the food looked positively atrocious. The rice was dry and hard and the meat had that shiny dry look to it when it's been sitting in a warmer all day. We came after whenever a dinner rush would be so I was confused to see the food looking so... old and gross looking. You'd think that the food would be fresh due to rotation of the food inventory during a dinner rush. It looked like the same food had just been sitting there for possibly days. The sour cream squeeze bottle was empty, so she just kind of spattered tiny flecks of sour cream spray on my food and kept going. Uh... Ok. Then, when the next item also had sour cream, she put the old spout on a NEW bottle of sour cream right in front of me! I mean, you're breaking food safety rule #2, right after FIFO. As we paid, the cashier stopped ringing us up to check a Facebook notification. Then, we went to get some salsa and I noticed some bubbles in the salsa, but I thought maybe it was just because I had stirred it. But, it looked... weird. And there were a lot of bubbles. Having never been there, I got some anyway. Maybe that's just what it looked like, I thought.
I attached a picture of what it looked like after I got it home. It was so filled with gas that it would not sit flat on the counter, and you can see all of the fermentation bubbles on the side of the salsa cup. They are serving literally rotting salsa. I tasted it to be sure. It is, indeed, rotting.
The steak tasted and smelled like an old dish rag. My bowl was inedible, with crunchy dry rice, dry chicken, and super weird tasting bell peppers that I had to remove in order to choke down the rest of the mess. My fiance and I both agreed that we'd rather have Taco Bell. I am actually concerned that some of the other things that were in our bowls might have been rotting because everything looked really old and like the integrity of the structure of the vegetables was suffering.
Never again... Oh my god, this was literally the gnarliest restaurant and the grossest food I've ever eaten. You literally could not pay me money to ever go to...
Read moreFiancé ordered dinner through the phone tonight, since I was running errands and was in the area. We love Moe's, so we figured it would be a nice treat for us.
Upon my arrival, there was no "Welcome to Moe's!" from any of the three lads behind the counter, which was a bit jarring. They seemed to be having their own conversation.
The food was on the pickup shelf on time, but when I got home, I discovered that our orders were completely wrong and the burritos were abnormally small.
My burrito had jalapenos in it (which I never order), no lettuce, and what seemed to be one teaspoon of guacamole. Fiance's burrito was made with chicken instead of the beef, no jalapenos that he ordered, and not even a dab of guacamole. It seemed like most of the additions we usually get were either nonexistent, or applied in the most frugal fashion.
We ordered a bowl of queso to go with the chips, and instead we got the cup size, filled with what looked to be watered-down and pretty flavorless queso. We did not get what we paid for at all, and we're left feeling pretty ripped off.
All around, this was a pretty poor experience, and I don't think we'll be coming back to this location again. I'm only giving the two stars because at least the food was somewhat warm and on the shelf when...
Read moreEvery Friday, at the house I work at, the girls order out. I and another aide take turns picking up the orders. I walked in to the Moe's on Monroe Ave. There were 2 people in front of me. I walked around the cash register and told a person I was there for 3 orders. They told me the orders weren't done. 3 people came, ordered, paid and left. I was still there when 1 order came through. Another person who ordered and came to get their order waited 3 to 4 minutes and then left. I was still waiting there. Some people ordered and paid for theirs and went into the clean dining room znd sat. Needless to say, I waited a whole HALF HOUR! This is the one place I had to wait around! I don't have to wait for any other restaurant since I started running for the Friday orders. Just something wasn't right. So I won't be back to this place anytime soon. Parking is right outside and plenty of spaces. I didn't really look at this place from the wheelchair eyes, so sorry for not noticing if it was OK for the disabled community, I usually spot these things, but having to delay someone's dinner put me...
