Root 31 — Restaurant in Town of Pittsford

Horrible experience!! It started out alright the cashier was friendly and helpful. I then waited for my food, it was kind of busy but most tables already had food I noticed. Then the food was done I am glad I looked at it before I left. I ordered a pizza but apparently it had no cheese on it ??? I then asked at the counter why the pizza had no cheese on it ? Was met with a nasty employee who barked at me that the vegetable pizza had NO cheese on it. Ok I did not know that bc the menu did not specifically say it does not….I said I would like cheese on it. She then ripped the pizza box out of my hands and continued to give me dirty looks while I waited. There is no reason to treat anyone like that when they are paying for food. When the new pizza was ready I asked her name and to speak to a manager. She then lies and says “I already apologized to you” I said excuse me you most certainly did NOT EVER apologize to me and better yet do you feel the way I was treated by you was acceptable bc it is NOT and I did not deserve to be treated this way you did not have anything nice to say to me at all and now are trying to lie bc I am going to hold your atrocious customer service accountable by asking to speak to a manager or the owner. I was told there was NO manager there yesterday March 25,2025 given a piece of paper with her name Emma was her name she gave me and someone else’s name as the manager who would be there tomorrow I called and spoke with the manager Rachel today and she obviously could care less how employees like Emma treat guests The pizza crust was all soggy and was not even cut properly not cut all the way through That was the first and last time I will ever go there And to the owner of Root 31 Cafe …..instead of refusing to give out your phone number to deal with issues that arise in your restaurant I would not have left a negative review if you had offered to speak to me and get my experience firsthand As I stated the manager Rachel could care less what I had to say as proof she told me oh ya after that happened Emma called me to tell me what happened ok so you believed her narrative and can care less what I experienced got it customers are not a priority Emma should be fired from Root 31 she should also not work with the public with her nasty attitude I won’t ever go back nor will I recommend Root 31 to anyone either Disrespect and disappointment is what they serve best Emma is only sorry she got caught I’m sure this was not the first time she has treated...

I've been here multiple times and have always had a great experience.

The menu is posted on the wall behind the registers. They also have physical menus that you can bring to a table to look at, but there is no table service. You order at the counter, get a #, and the cashier will bring the food to you once it's ready. Vegan and vegetarian items are labeled as so.

They have a lot of options for food and beverages. Their smoothies are delicious and can be made with soy, same with the lattes. Their food has always been fresh tasting and large portions. Prices are good for the sizes!

This visit, I got the daily compost pile. It was roasted veggies on top of raw veggies with quinoa. I got the balsamic dressing. The serving was so large, I ate it on 2 separate occasions. I also enjoyed the berry smoothie, which has a great flavor. Not too sweet.

We had never heard of this place before but decided to try them on UberEats. We never will again. The ordering process was incredibly confusing, consisting mostly of options for what we DIDN'T want rather than what we did. The turkey wrap was pitiful. Barely any meat, no cheese, none of the onion that I asked for. And the whole thing was tiny. Not worth even close to the almost $15 we paid. Didn't even come with fries or any kind of side. My stepson's plain chicken and cheese quesadilla came covered in the black beans and tomatoes we specifically asked them to take off. He is allergic to tomatoes so he can't even touch this. Also not worth the money we paid. Two meals that can't be enjoyed. Really sad and overpriced. Don't order from this place. All the reviews said the portions were too big for some people.
