Ok so this place has been opened for about 2 weeks. They bill themselves as Indian and Nepali food. We went on a Friday night around 6pm. They have maybe like 15 tables as well as takeout.
SERVICE We were able to sit quickly, but it took FOREVER to get ANYONE to attend to us. It was ONE PERSON working THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT, and he had NO IDEA What he was doing. There was another individual who helped from time to time. They were DEFINITELY Overwhelmed by a steady volume of customers. Many customers came in and left - we also saw people come in and get seated, then get up and leave. We asked our server to split the bill for our 2 families. He said he would - and at the end, everything was on one bill so we had to go through and divide everything up. Don't tell us you can do it and then don't do it. After sitting for 15 minutes we finally flagged down this server. We waited - no lie - 45min before getting our food and that was only after we cornered him and asked him where it was. We saw other tables getting their food before us after we had been seated 15 min prior to them!! When we FINALLY got our food, the server didn't even know what the dish was!!! Was it chicken or lamb biryani? Like bro - you just brought it from the kitchen - you should know!!!
FOOD This was NOT anywhere NEAR as good as I would have hoped for. It was NOT worth the $15-17 average per plate. They tout Indian food? GARBAGE! It was terrible indian food. There are WAY BETTER INDIAN restaurants in Henrietta. If you're going to advertise you make indian food, well, make it taste like indian food bro. It. Was. Terrible. The Nepali food we had was tasteless. Like, no flavor. Rice was dry, Mango Lassi was over $5per drink - HORRENDOUS. It was the worst mango lassi I've ever had. Just so so bad. The only good thing might have been the naan - - and that was barely.
It was laughable how poorly run this place is. Usually I give a local place a chance. But if you don't have what it takes just to bring food out correctly in the correct order, you should wait to open your doors. If you don't have the staff to wait on 15 tables, well, don't open until you do. The one guy with the part-time helper just ain't cutting it. I don't see myself going back...
Read moreI walked into this restaurant at 8:23. They close at 9, or at least that's what they have posted their hours as. There were several people in the restaurant who had not even gotten their food yet. Upon entering the host engaged in a back and forth with with a woman in a different language, and reluctantly sat me.
Upon being seated he advised us that we need to be quick because they are closing. I was confused as at this time it was 8:26, still over a half hour before they closed. I told him I thought they closed at 9, to which he said, "well the restaurant technically closes at 9, but we stop taking orders at 8:30." He then urged us once again to hurry up. No "please". Just annoyed and hurried speech.
I have worked in restaurants many times before, and I'll be honest. I get it. It sucks when customers walk in right before you close. But this wasn't 10-15 minutes. It was well over a half hour before the restaurant closed. There were only 2 of us.
I told him he might want to put the actual hours online instead of leaving me to guess. We walked out- it still was over a half hour before they closed when the door shut.
Don't act like you're doing me a favor by taking my money during the hours you say you are open. Terrible customer service, awful way to do business, and the...
Read moreI came here recently with my in-laws who are Indian and live in India. All in all, we all thought it was good.
We shared momos to begin and they were good. The mint chutney that came with it was really good, the red chutney was kind of watery.
I ordered chow mein as I wanted to try a Nepalese dish. I don't have much experience to compare it to but it was somewhat bland. It wasn't bad by any means but seemed like it could have used some spice / flavor.
My in-laws ordered a thali set and it was very good and generously portioned. It came two proteins - chicken makahani and lamb vindaloo - and rice and naan and some spiced vegetables, Raina and some sauces. It looked very filling and tasted good. This to me was the star of the show and the basis for the 5 star review
As with any new restaurant, there are some kinks to work out, but all in all, something worth returning for.
If I can offer a tip or two to the restaurant:
Don't be afraid to add spice. People expect Indian (and I assume, Nepali) food to be bursting with flavor.
If you think Americans can't handle Indian-level spice, offer a few different spice levels (e.g., mild, medium, very spicy). Other Desi restaurants in the area offer this and it seems to work for...
