It's definitely a beautiful new spot we traveled an hour to get here because we saw the great reviews. We came on a Saturday around 1:00 p.m. and there was one other family there other than us. Thought it was a little strange because with the amount of traffic in Lake George this weekend we figured it was going to be busy. The ordering system is little strange, they give you a menu with all the different items you can choose, and then the server comes to your table and then asks you what you want and puts it on a tablet. Unlike The Volcano restaurant in Niskayuna which they give you your own tablet to order from. I feel that they would benefit by doing it this way because by the time the waiter came around I forgot what I wanted then could not find the things I wanted on the menu again. Even if they gave you a wipe marker so you could check the boxes because their menus are laminated anyway it wouldn't be much of a problem. They give you small quantities of food so they don't waste anything which is good and everything is made fresh to order which was another plus. I got soup dumplings and veggie spring rolls for an appetizer and I also got pork dumplings all were very yummy. My husband got Whitefish tempura which he enjoyed and also a beef kabob stick which was very small and they only gave you one so the next time he ordered he got three. We also got a bunch of different sushi rolls which my favorite was the sweet potato tempura, my son got some salmon ones that he enjoyed. I also tried the noodles and the fried rice with the chicken hibachi. The rice needed a little bit more flavor but the noodles were really delicious. My husband also had the pork Ramen which he really liked, he said it was flavorful. The general Chow's was a little spicy but it was very good, something that I would get again. The place itself is very nice and clean looking with interesting things to look at with a big screen that has whales going by. The waiter filled our drinks constantly which was also very nice. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5. If they change the ordering system I will totally be back. There is a 2-hour limit which sounds like a lot of time but it takes a while for the waiter to come to take your order and then you have to wait for the food to be made in between so that 2 hours goes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGoing there was an impromptu decision on a Sunday evening. The restaurant opened a couple of weeks ago and as expected the place was super clean, staff very welcoming and attentive to the needs. My biggest surprise was the tea I ordered, I asked the waitress which kind of tea they had and she mentioned only one kind. She brought me a cup to sample it and for the first time in a US Japanese restaurant I was offered some loose leaf Genmaicha, WOW. She then brought me a regular teapot with an infuser inside; however once the tea absorbed the water it was not steeping properly anymore. She notice me trying to fix the problem and she came to my table asking if she could take back my teapot to fill it more with hot water. That is prime service for a tea fanatic like me.
We ordered a few appetizers: tuna tataki, tuna carpaccio, yellowtail with jalapeƱos, shrimp tempura, and fried squid. Consistently with what the waitress said the plates were small, just a couple of bites. Small but so full of flavor, the tempura was not greasy at all. The calamari were really fine but a different style from the one I prefer. After that I tried three different rolls from the special ones and again flavor bursting in my mouth, the use of mango was really an excellent idea that did not overwhelm the rest of the flavors. I was so stuffed I could not eat any dessert, may next time.
This was for an all you can eat dinner at $30 a person. Worth every penny for such a rewarding impromptu decision. I understand the AYCE lunch is cheaper but I do not remember the price. I really wish the the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start off by acknowledging that this is their first day open, and they are still learning. Starting positive the staft are very friendly and very welcoming. The food is really good, and the atmosphere is very stylish, and its amazing how much they changed the aesthetic of the old restaurant here. It is nearly close to perfect, however there are a few things that could this restaurant could use to be perfect. 1 little soy sause dishes, I prefer to dip my sushi and not pour on top of it, i dont know if theyve already ordered them and they havent arrived but it would be nice to see them next time. 2 the lights flicker ever so often and I dont know what causes it but it is distragting and not pleasent. 3 refilling the drinks, as they do a pretty good job at taking care of your hunger, however i wish they'd come around more often so i could get a refill on my drink. 4 if they could bring the menu back without having to ask for it everytime it would be nice, not as critical but would be appreciated. Despite all of those critique's id more than happily come back to eat, the food is really good, the drinks are great, the staff are very nice. I wish them...
