Had a highly anticipated dinner there last Saturday night, November 16th with 3 couples. When we arrived at 7 PM we had to wait 30 minutes for our table even though the reservation had been made by a very old steady patron! When finally seated it took an inordinate amount of time to get a waiter to take our cocktail order and give us menus (35+ min.). A bus boy gave us water long before our waiter arrived! Upon arriving our waiter informed the couple that are the steady patrons, that there were only 3 orders of the “Fish Special” left, that happened to be Stuffed Flounder. So 3 of our party ordered them. The waiter disappeared, evidently to put that order in but had not taken anybody else’s order for anything, including cocktails! When he finally returned he took our drink orders and left again! Finally after what seemed like 30 more minutes, our cocktails arrived and he took the rest of our party’s orders. We were served there Famous Garlic & Olive Knot rolls, but they were ice cold! After 10 more minutes we caught our waiters attention and asked him to please bring us Hot Knott Rolls! The second basket was brought by the bus boy and were also cold! At this point, the frequent patron was getting quite annoyed and somewhat embarrassed and proceeded to explain to the inattentive waiter his frustration with the Service and the Cold Knot Rolls for the second time! Upon returning with the 3 basket of Cold Knott Rolls that he said had been personally been attended to by the Chef/owner, his answer was to say”I’ll take them off the check” Of course the Knott Rolls are free so this very sarcastic remark by our waiter just exacerbated the situation! When our appetizers and entrees finally arrived they all looked like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while! The sauce on the 3 orders of Stuffed Flounder was congealed and did not look very appetizing, and the other Veal Dishes we’re only so so! The Veal medallions was thick and rubbery! In defense of this once excellent eatery, we were there in November which is somewhat off season for the area, and the staff might not have been the A team. But there is no excuse for poor quality food and unprofessional, sarcastic service! It will be a very cold day indeed, before I give “Il Cap’s” as it’s known, another chance! So sorry to see what used to be one of the finest eateries in the area, fall...

But, dear reader, it is the Bolognese that truly merits the highest commendation. This culinary masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients, transcends mere sustenance and enters the realm of gastronomic art. The sauce, a rich tapestry of flavors, boasts a perfect symphony of tender, slow-cooked meat melded seamlessly with the freshest tomatoes, herbs, and a hint of wine, creating an unparalleled depth of taste. The pasta, al dente to perfection, serves as an impeccable vessel for this ambrosial concoction, each bite a testament to the chef's unwavering dedication to culinary excellence.
In conclusion, this delightful Italian eatery is not merely a place to dine but an experience to be savored and cherished. The Bolognese, in particular, stands as a beacon of culinary splendor, a dish that will undoubtedly linger in one's memory long after the final morsel has...
Read moreIl Capuccino is a beautiful restaurant located in Sag Harbor on a quaint street that literally brings you back in time. Before entering, you see a couple of tables for outdoor dining which is a nice touch on a summers evening.
As you enter, you get this old world tavern feel with wood planks on the ceiling, a beautiful beast where you can sit for a drink and food if you choose and then multiple rooms with tables. We sat at a table in the bar.
For starters, they bring you a basket full of these most sliding garlic knots!!!! I could do some damage with that for sure! Kerry out waitress have is some great suggestions before ordering.
I ordered the baked stuffed clams which were delicious and overstuffed. I could have used a little more juice on top of the clams. I was surprised that they were served in tinfoil clam shells.... But that didn't stop me from enjoying them. We also ordered the spinach salad which was a nice place of fresh greens with a warm bacon dressing and mushrooms.
For dinner, I ordered the seafood pasta (Frutti di Mar) which was delicious however in being honest, it could've used more pasta. Basically I got 4 fork twirls . A little more pasta would've been very impressive. The calamari, shrimps mussels and clams were delicious as well. We also ordered the linguine carbonara which was creamy and delicious with that nice smoke flavor from the pancetta. My wife enjoyed the fettuccini Alfredo.
All in all, everything was delicious. Kerry took great care of us and it was an enjoyable evening....
