You know how you live in a place yet somehow somewhere seemingly goes unnoticed by you for years? This is what happened to me with Sag Harbor Garden Center and I am so happy I rectified that recently. We’ve had a house in Southampton for over twenty years and go to the wondrous Dr Barry Browning vet just down the road. Yet somehow this plant lover’s paradise escaped me. Until the other day when my Mom needed some seeds and we grabbed them here as were already in Sag. And man oh man, can I say that I am beyond happy I did. For one thing they have plants on sale! What’s that you say? Something on sale in the Hamptons and in the summer no less!? Sacré bleu! What sorcery is this!? I know, my thoughts exactly! And not just any plants-the queens of the realm, the holy ephemeral heady and luxurious and everyone’s favorite, gardenia. And not just any gardenia, a gardenia tree! My olfactory and green thumb dreams realized. Staggeringly affordable with an on-sale price of under fifty, I seriously nearly fainted. Not only that, but they have the kindest owner, Linnette as well as staff like Frankie who knows his stuff and won’t let you lift a finger. Aside from the gardenia tree which is providing me more joy than a night in with Bravo and pizza, they have great deals on outdoor plants like the Lantana plant they recommended for outside by our front door. Frankie showed me this one for our shaded area whose plants have been constantly beheaded by deer lately. Now, our black urns at our front door are filled with cheery pink flowers that remind me of a child’s birthday cake. Purchased over two months ago and they are still going strong. The staff here truly know their plants and flowers and their prices can’t be beat. If you’re looking to brighten your house, yard or just wander through an outdoor garden of delight I highly recommend stopping into Sag Harbor Garden Center. A true gem with insanely brilliant-kind staff and owners tucked away before all our eyes without even realizing it. Just like all good treasures seem to be. *Excuse the poor photography skills, but just imagine the scent heaven these illustrious white...
