I’ve been going back and forth with this review but I decided I should do it.
I was eating at the bar yesterday when an argument happened between two patrons. A young couple were asked to move from their seats by a guest so her friends can sit in the couple’s seats. The young lady who was asked to move said no they won’t move. The other lady kept talking to the young lady and her boyfriend and the next thing I heard was from the young lady “No bleep you’re rude!” And then they lady called the young lady in the couple a “bleep”. The young lady then replied “bleep I should spit on you”. The young lady’s boyfriend calmed her down and went outside. The other lady kept antagonizing the young lady so the young lady raised her voice to tell her to leave her alone. As the young lady was speaking to the rude guest another guest who was a male got involved and started yelling at the young lady who was now alone with no man to defend her.
The young lady told that guest to mind his business he has no idea what is going on and to eat his food. He continued to yell at her until her boyfriend returned. She yelled back at him. Then the manager who said his name was Dan got involved and berated the young lady that was defending herself against the people who were attacking her. She did make threats and ended up leaving. when she left the manager Dan, the waitresses and bartender all spoke badly about the young lady when she left. The bartender stated that she called before coming to make sure she would get good service since she was there previously and had bad service but wanted to give it a second chance. They continued to speak about the young lady.
During the arguing the young lady stated where she worked which was close so on my way home I decided to stop by the young lady’s job to make sure she was ok. She stated she was and that she called corporate. I told her about what happened when she left and she explained to me her bad experience on Monday. She ordered food and waited a very long time only to see people who were sat 15-20 minutes after her getting their food, she asked the waitress what was going on and the waitress told her they messed up her order and were remaking it which inconvenienced her since she was on a lunch break and had to get back to her clients. She sat for almost an hour without any food. She said she believes in 2cd chances and the bartender assured her that she will have a good experience this time. She stated she did until the incident. She also informed me that she called the Applebee’s and was hung up on by Dan 3 times for asking for the number to corporate.
I gave her my information and let her know that I am a witness if they need me.
I will no longer go to this Applebee’s and I will also be writing about my experience on my local ulster county blog and asking my readers as well as my Facebook followers to no longer support this Applebee’s. The manager Dan is NOT a manager! He does NOT need to be working with the public. The way he contributed to talk badly and say things I cannot say her about the young lady is completely inappropriate. I feel bad I did not stick up for the young lady.
My blog get over 1.2 million views a month. My Facebook has over 350k followers. I will be sure they all know about this.
Please take care of the staff, train them how to diffuse a situation better. If you are the owner and would like to meet with me or speak with me to hear what was said about the young lady when she left please reply here. I will speak to you. I’m her witness and if she does take it further as she stated she will then I will be her witness there as well.
Please respect the people in your community. The young lady has a professional career and was not what they stated she was. She was very pleasant when I spoke with her. Shaken up that men would talk to a woman the way they did. I was also. I was APPALLED! Do better!
Please excuse my spelling errors. I am shaking writing this because of how the young lady was treated and that could...
Read moreI am leaving this review after an unpleasant experience during my last visit. It’s a shame to have to leave this review because prior to this visit, we had been very comfortable and happy to visit this place almost every weekend until the server we got that day changed everything. This should be a good opportunity for management to train their staff on the importance of showing a right attitude to customers because it makes a huge difference. For context I have an intellectually disabled 16yo who resides in a nearby facility in dutchess county. Ever since we can remember my son has been a huge fan of Applebees; specifically he loves the Alfredo pasta. Honestly on many occasions I would have preferred to go elsewhere but we make the trip just to make my son happy.
For the past 6 months or so that we have been visiting this location either Saturday or Sundays everything had been great. We always had great and friendly servers that made us feel Comfortable and appreciated (which of course we reciprocated with generous tips) especially Justine who is very kind and patient with my son, she’s very diligent and overall a great worker and person. Unfortunately the last Sunday we went Justine was off and we had a different server. Up to this point everything should have been fine, just a different server, but from the start my wife and I started noticing this new server (Kelly) started to have a standoffish attitude, making condescending and snarky comments that made us uncomfortable from the beginning. I was already turned off at that point. Every time she approached the table there was just this weird vibe and she continued to make her condescending comments. I honestly lost my appetite and just said I won’t be eating anything. At this point I asked her where Justine was as she normally works that section on sundays to which the server responded that she was off. At this point I made a comment along the lines of “of that’s a shame that she’s off today” and she gave me the nastiest look. Yes I said that because I really meant it. I was used to the being treated with respect and kindness and all of a sudden I get a rude and condescending server with an unpleasant attitude.
Later, my wife stepped out the restaurant to get something from the car, and as she was walking back in, my wife caught the server making fun of us to the host while laughing and imitating us.
We considered complaining at this point but my wife convinced me to just let it go. I was going to let it go but until the last minute the server continued to be nasty, purposely ignoring my request to get the check and then taking forever to come by the table to collect payment. My son’s tolerance to the place was already reached and my wife and him had to leave to prevent an unwanted reaction (my son is on the spectrum) while I continued to wait for the server.
At this point I thought to myself enough is enough and I got up and asked to speak to the manager. I explained all this situation to the manager and the first thing she did was to ask me why didn’t I say something before. Really? Because I’m not the type to be making complains about everything, I’m not so sensitive and can let things go but until the last minute this sever was nasty to us and continued to roll her eyes, so something had to be said.
The manager did offer to take the charge back (which I wasn’t expecting and was nice of her) but the damage has been done and I don’t feel comfortable coming back to a place where workers make fun behind the backs of customers, especially being with a disabled minor. Great Job Kingston Applebees...
Read moreThis was my first time leaving a review on Google, and unfortunately, the experience at the restaurant was absolutely terrible. Despite waiting for 20 minutes, nobody came to take my order. When a woman server finally arrived, she appeared angry or unpleasant, which made the situation worse. I ordered a shrimp and parmesan sirloin with french fries and broccoli, cooked medium rare. However, the server mixed up my sides and brought mashed potatoes instead of fries, and the steak was completely well done instead of medium rare. I assumed the restaurant was busy or that the staff didn't care. Although I didn't want to make a fuss, I hoped to leave as soon as possible after finishing my meal. When I finished eating, I attempted to get the attention of a server to ask for my bill. However, nobody acknowledged me, and I waited for 10 minutes with no luck. I tried to wave and say hello, but still, nobody noticed me. Feeling annoyed and frustrated, I stood up and waited by my table, hoping someone would bring my bill. Unfortunately, the server ignored me and continued chatting with customers at another table. After waiting for another 5 minutes, she finally brought my bill. However, she accused me of being rude for taking the bill out of her hand. I was waiting for 15 minutes to get my bill, so I didn't understand why she was being confrontational. Based on her attitude, I felt that she was being racist towards me because of my Asian appearance. Applebee's should not tolerate such behavior from its employees. I received no apology for the mix-up with my order, the 20-minute wait to be served, or the 15-minute wait to get my bill. Other reviews mentioning the poor attitudes of the women servers at the restaurant were correct. They were all rude and seemed to protect one another. This experience has left me feeling disgusted, and I will never return to Applebee's again. This terrible experience ruined my...
