Friends and I have been meeting at Adelitas (Victor) 2-3 times a month. We did like it better than the other location. Unfortunately, we have watched it become more inconsistent, with service and food. After June 25th, we won't be back for awhile. I order the same dish almost every time (it's hard to find fish tacos I enjoy). One night the beans and rice are served together in a little dish, I order an extra side of them. The next time, back to being a normal serving on the plate. On June 25th, back to a little dish. And it is little! Luckily, I had ordered an extra side of them, to share. They came out barely warm. In fact, most of our food did! Fish tacos came out with the smallest pieces on two of them(I will see if I can upload photo), one piece was barely longer than the tines of my fork and less than half the length of the tortilla. The sauce was not the one that has always come with it, even though the server said it was. Remember, I have been eating this dish for months. A shrimp dish ordered by a friend looked like slop and not served with beans, even though she asked to confirm it did. Fajitas ordered came out semi-warm. Another person walked by, took our chips and walked away. While we were eating! Didn't ask. Didn't say a word. It takes a lot for me to write a review, and I do more good ones than bad, but knowing how good Adelitas has been, I hope it can get...
Read moreTook a long time to get service with menu. We just wanted something simple as we were catching a movie in a bit. We all had water and I had water lemon. Took a long time to get waters. Waited even longer to place an order that was just nachos to share
We chose chicken for the protein. The complimentary chips n salsa arrived.. something was right... It tasted... Fermented. Like the tingle you get when eating something spoiled. I mentioned this to the server who quickly took it away. Turns out the fridge holding the salsa was in fact OFF and food was warm and ya that salsa WAS bad.
Got a new salsa and it was fine.
Took a LONG time to get the nachos. We ordered queso and it was lu.py and cold at the bottom and while I enjoy spicy, my family couldn't handle the heat. So, cold lumpy and clearly microwaved poorly.
Nachos were as expected but the meat re-heated, lacked flavor and the beans not homemade for sure. Chips bagged too- not fresh.
We dropped $50 on three waters, one bottled sodas, guacamole, pico degaillo and a regular nachos!!!
Way over priced.
Atmosphere was nice. It was clean and smelled good. Servers were attentive but ya... $50 for nachos? $8.00 for premade quack?? ...
Read moreI will be the first to admit that, based on the locations (in shopping malls), the decor/atmosphere (similar to, say, Chili's), and the fact that there was more than one (I knew of those in Pittsford Plaza and Eastview Mall)... that I thought Adelita's was some kind of Mexican chain restaurant.
As a result, I assumed that its cuisine would be inauthentic and a bit cheesy.
Well, we all know what happens when you assume... 😉
From the first time we ate at Adelita's maybe 4 years ago, I was sold. I was simultaneously impressed that a "chain" restaurant had birria tacos as an option... while also being almost embarrassed to enjoy a "chain" as much as I did.
Turns out, Adelita's is entirely local and family-owned - which undoubtedly explains why there are so many tasty and authentic options! Yes, this isn't Mexican food in the truest sense - more like Tex Mex - but it's still real and delicious.
When I'm not ordering the birria tacos, I love the enchilada trio and the pork carnitas. Most recently, I ordered the vegetarian bowl... and added chicken... 😂 and it was both delicious and large enough to provide...
