Since the opening of D-Lux diner my few experiences have been; great looking menu, polite and attentive servers so far, but the food isn't that great at all. The food does not look anything like the photos on its menu or taste as inviting as the photos portray. Most of the time you'll get luke warm food, sometimes under or over cooked, bland flavours depending on what you order or worse.
If you have the opportunity to speak with the restaurant owner, he will immediately become defensive and confrontational, as well as interrupting you often so that he does not have to listen to a thing you have to say. Which is very disappointing, because some patrons really care, and just want to see a business do well, but apparently the owner feels he is doing well enough where he doesn't care to hear what anyone thinks, unless it's only positive. His answer to me for a breakfast item was "Tell the server to inform the kitchen chef to have your food item well-done".
My question is; shouldn't the food preparation be done right when it's being served to the customer? Why should a customer have to provide specifics on how to prepare food? Anyone who owns a restaurant that has rave reviews on their food preparation as well as service and atmosphere knows that food should be prepared properly, hot when served, and never over or under cooked so that the customer experience is good.
In a business you will hear the negative, but listening and behaving like a pleasant professional, despite what you're being informed of is taking the high road, instead of immediately becoming defensive and confrontational. If you complain to the server about the food being over or under cooked, you may probably run the risk based on their behavior...of having some additional things on your food you will probably never notice, but give the server and kitchen cooks pleasure at your expense.
Needless to say, I will never ever in this lifetime eat at D-Lux Diner again. I didn't appreciate the careless preparation of the food being under or over cooked, or the poor attitude of the owner while you're trying to share your experience with him in hope that he would be open to suggestions or just listen and try to make things better for a customers experience moving forward.
To a person with a trained pallet in the culinary industry, I would suggest eating elsewhere, because your money can be better spent in a place that truly cares instead of dealing with this nonsense.
A restaurant reviewer that knows their business well would never give this place the 4.7 rating that they have. I can only imagine people being coerced into providing rave reviews when this place isn't really...
Read moreI've been coming with my family to the D lux Diner frequently for the past year now, and I've had some good experiences. My most recent visit though was a major disappointment. The first problem I noticed was their men's bathroom. My three options in that bathroom were a urinal that wouldn't flush, a clogged stall, and a second stall without any lock on it. I'll spare you the extra details, but it's a decision no man should make. The second issue was the wait. My family and I had to wait over an hour for the food to come out! That is no exaggeration. My poor dad wanted to celebrate his birthday by getting food at your diner but ended up waiting impatiently for most of the time there. The final problem was with my meal (when it finally did come). I ordered a beef Philly Cheesesteak, but instead what I got was a green pepper sandwich. The whole thing was loaded with green pepper and small slices of beef to add flavor. Spoiler alert! It's supposed to be the other way around! My guess is that the restaurant wanted to save their more expensive product so they loaded my sandwich with cheap peppers instead. Who knows? I recently went to Philadelphia, and I can honestly say that city was done a disservice. Now you may be wondering, after waiting over an hour for the worst cheesesteak I've ever had with frightening bathroom breaks why on earth I gave the D lux Diner 2 stars. 2 reasons, 1 for each star. The last time I came here I had an excellent chicken parm dinner. Also, the waitress. She's served me before, and she always comes with a friendly, positive attitude. I don't know her name but she's someone who's willing to go the extra mile for good service. Hopefully this establishment can learn from this review to give me the same quality dinner I've had here before and avoid disasters like I just experienced. I know they have it in them. I've just read many glowing reviews. But if this happens again, I'll be eating out at the many other dining establishments in...
Read moreWe arrived at diner at 12:30 on Mothers day. Our service started out ok. But then declined from there. After ordering drinks, then appetizers, the waitress ghosted us for an hour at least. We had a 22 month old, 3.5 year old and a 4.5 year old. No extra napkins, and no waitress. Had to constantly look for her. We had to go and ask where our food was. It was at the food distribution area just sitting there. When it reached our table, The food was cold. Fries, Chicken Parm Panini was cold with no Marianna sauce. Onion Rings were cold. My daughters Chicken Panini, fried, was cold, the cheddar cheese was no longer fluid, It was cold. My grandkids burgers and fries were cold. There was 9 of us. I told the waitress to take my food back and off the bill, and my daughters, we could not eat it. She said I will get my boss. I said yes do so. I could hear him 30 ft away getting crazy with his mouth. He came to our table with a raised voice saying we were trouble since we got there. All we did was ask to wait 10 min for the rest of our party to get there to order. He then put his hands on my daughters food flipping the bun off saying its a cold sandwich. He was wrong and unprofessional. It was a breaded fried chicken breast with cheddar cheese sauce, lettuce and tomato with mayo. The chicken was cold and the cheddar was no longer fluid, it was hard. Any ways he kept getting louder, which then prompted me to get loud. And I told him that as well. He seamed to want to go further, but mind you I was still seated, Im also 6ft 1 and he was maybe 5ft 8 He made a comment that he knew where I wanted to go with this, which that confused me. I just wanted 2 meals off the bill, which we never even took more than 1 bite. He was as unprofessional as you can get...big mouthed jerk Ive dealt with. We have been there several times, and its been ok to really good. But due to this very poor and insane behavior of this manager, my family and I will find another place to...
