Over-hyped in my opinion. The space is really nice and the server was nice too. Plus we went on $5 happy hour Sunday so that made the bill cheaper. We had a sangria which didn't relly taste fruity, it tasted more like watered down orange juice and alcohol, but it did the job of making me tipsy. One of the bartenders actually gave my table a free drink that he randomly made and it tasted way better than the sangria! Idk the name of the bartender but please put that drink on the menu! It had watermelon in it which was light and refreshing, plus it made my already tipsiness become the perfect buzz. He also gave me the recipe to make it myself, can't wait to try it! Okay now on to the food: We ordered the crab dip and the boneless wings for appetizers...crab dip was fine, I've had better, could've been seasoned more & could give more pretzel bites with the dip because the ratio is off. The sweet and spicy boneless wings were PERFECT. They were cripsy, crunchy, saucy and still moist on the inside. They get pretty spicy the more you eat them so if you don't like spicy things probably avoid that flavor. For the main course, we ordered the pounder (23oz crab cake) which took a while to finish between two people because it was even bigger than we thought. The crab meat was lump and it was cooked perfectly. I will say that the crab cake wasn't very seasoned, but I like simple crab cakes...although there wasn't anything memorable about the taste of this one. We got fries and cajun wild rice as the sides. The fries were fine but my partner did not like the wild rice, I didn't taste the rice so I'm not sure if it was just his taste buds or not. Our friend ordered the blackened crab cake with fries & mashed potatoes. He said that the crab cake didn't taste any different from a classic crab cake. He also only ate one bite of mashed potatoes because he said it tasted like it was made out of the box, not homemade. They did look more like grits than mashed potatoes. We didn't order dessert because we were stuffed and also didn't trust in yhe flavor of the desserts since there wasn't much flavor in the food. Most memorable thing I tasted from here was the sweet and spicy boneless wings, I could eat them again. The crab cake I could go without, along with the other food I tasted. The sangria meeds more flavor with actual different fruit chunks in it (only had an orange slice on the rim). And that watermelon drinks needs to go on the menu asap. I'm getting three stars because of the positive parts of my experience but the missing 2 stars is because of the lack of flavor in most of the food.

So. After dining here, this really wouldn't be my 1st or even 2nd or 3rd Choice for a meal out. Pretty underwhelming Experience. (Actually 2 1/2-3 stars for the food.) Was somewhat worried seeing reviews especially the most recent ones. A Friend treated me to birthday dinner here after we went to our usual for Crab Cakes and it was closed. On a whim wind up @ The Crackpot. We were seated quickly with no wait because there was only around 8 of us in there, honestly, if that. Staff was very polite & friendly. Casual, Homey Spot located within a strip mall type area. Restaurant was clean. A few Sketchy Type Folk were hanging out in front of the store but nothing too bad. AC was up kinda high/cold. Lots of TV's around; only 1 on. Not loud but then again place was not even half full. Just a handful of us in there on a Labor Day Weekday around 5pm. Food took like, 25-30 min to come out. Nothing was hot 😐 but very warm which was alright. I got the 2 Crabcake Dinner; friend had Steak & Crabcake, Broccoli, & Mashed Potatoes. Also Sierra Mist + a great homeade unsweetened iced tea (used Sweet & Low on the table.) The Crab Cakes were a nice size, looked good & fried beautifully, and had plenty crabmeat + more than a few backfin pieces/chunks along with minimal filler; they needed SOME type of *FLAVOR* though; particularly seasoning of any kind, or Old Bay BUT they weren't bad just Extremely Bland...not sure why their crabcakes were garnished with CILANTRO though. Crispy fries. Coleslaw was good & fresh but VERY oniony tasting. Steak was alright & mostly tender but came well-done instead of medium- rare as asked for. Mashed Pot were tasty. Broccoli OK. Portions for Dinners were OK. Staff was attentive but not intrusive. Only seemed to be 1 Waitress, 1 Cook, & 1 Bartender standing @ an empty bar on this particular day. Overall Not THE Best but definitely Not Terrible either. Food wasn't the Worst I've ever had and I didn't get sick. Reasonable prices I guess. Reheated my leftover 2nd Crabcake @ home, added some Old Bay; it was pretty gud AFTER BEING SEASONED. Honestly, prolly would not go back again. Was told they switched ownership and food USED to be WAY Better. Can't say I Recommend BUT if you find yourself winding up here With No Other Real Options You Should Be Alright Depending Upon WHEN U Come and What U Order.😒

This place has been around for a long time and I used to come with family and friends for great food, atmosphere and service. I haven’t been in years and my fiancée had never been so I took him there to at least try the crab cake. We were greeted quickly and kindly and not rushed, despite the Covid-19 restrictions. We got a drink and the single crab cake entree with fries and broccoli. The crab cake was good but not quite as good as I remember it. The broccoli and fries were pretty good. Everything could have just a bit more seasoning or something is my only complaint. Still a pretty good choice for a nice but casual dinner.

Deserves "0" stars. Went there on a date. When walking through the door we were told by a waitress (not the Manager) "sorry we're not seating anymore people at tables!" Mind you only literally about 4 tables were seated. So we asked if we could sit at the bar because people were seated at the bar. The waitress told us to wait while she checks with the Manager. She than came out and told us we could sit at the bar.

After sitting for about 10 mins. the Manager finally comes over and hands us menus and ask my male companion what would he like to drink and eat, took his order and walked away. Never once acknowledged me or asked me anything. She than went down the bar asking everyone else if they were okay and would like anything else. My companion than managed to flag her down after many failed attempts with her looking at him waving his hand and turning her back to him. He told her "you didn't ask her (me) what she wanted, not a drink or anything!" She than asked "well what will you have?" No apology or nothing. I told her I wanted nothing, he paid for his drink and we left and went to Mo's where the service was "right on point" as soon as you walk in the door. Oh, she started apologizing when we were on our way out the door!

I really didn't appreciate being treated that way and there are soooo many things the Manager did wrong. She could've at least been the one greeting people at the entrance telling them what was going on and you NEVER ignore someone sitting there ready to order and patronize your business ma'am.

I will NEVER go to the Crackpot again, even if it's the last seafood place open...
