I had a very unpleasant experience at this Golden Corral, specifically with one of the staff members working at the steak station. His attitude was extremely rude, and I couldn’t help but feel that his behavior might have been discriminatory.
When I walked up to the steak station and asked for a RARE steak, he told me to wait 10 to 15 minutes. I was sure that he already had RARE steaks available, so I thought maybe he had misheard me. But what could RARE possibly be mistaken for? Medium RARE, Medium, Medium Well, Well Done—none of these sound like RARE except for RARE itself. No one simply says WELL. At that moment, I didn’t feel offended. I simply confirmed that I wanted RARE, and he did give me a RARE steak. I politely said thank you and left. I don’t understand how he could misinterpret that request—no one say WELL when they want WELL DONE. At first, I didn’t take offense and just assumed there was some misunderstanding. I even made sure to clearly state "RARE" each time and politely said thank you after my requests.
However, the third time was different. I noticed that when the customers before and after me requested RARE or Medium Rare, he understood them immediately and served them without any issue. Yet, when it was my turn, he didn’t even let me finish my sentence before cutting me off and telling me to wait another 10 to 15 minutes. When I tried to clarify my request, he outright ignored me and refused to listen.
I have ordered steak and eggs at countless restaurants, and I have never had a situation where my request for RARE was so consistently misunderstood—especially when others around me had no issue being understood. If there had been a genuine communication issue, any reasonable person would have at least tried to clarify. But this particular employee seemed to have a personal issue with me, and I have no idea why.
This was my first and last visit to this location. If management actually cares about customer service, they should seriously reconsider who they put in charge of the...
Read moreToday was not a good day at golden corral. We went for my father's birthday with a party of 11 people at 6:30 This is how many people we usually dine with. We like it normally because we get quality food for our money. Today the food was just very blah. Thw selection was not that great. The fish was good maybe a little salty but everything else seemed like it had been sitting for a long time. It reminded me of hometown buffet. There was no steak for a long time when my brother got his it was very tough. My brother loves the steak normally. There was some sausage links that were blah. The meat selection was not great today. The brussel sprouts were over boiled and full of water destroying the taste. I normally love brussel sprouts The food just was not as good as we are use to. I was disappointed. It seemed like they were about to close for the night the whole time we were there. The food seemed to be sitting so long that sauces had hardened and gotten gummy. YUCK! The wait staff was attentive and kept our drinks filled and table cleared. That was appreciated. I would give them 4 stars. I really can't convey how dissatisfied not only I but others in my party were with the quality of the food tonight. I understand you get what you pay for at a buffet but normally your food is so good. I was embarrased that I suggested that my family come here for my father's birthday dinner. It felt very cheap. Honestly today Golden Corral was just like everyone else almost as bad as hometown buffet. A lot of low quality food today. I will probably just go to the one in...
Read moreChanging this review because this place has gotten worse . Management sucks at this location because there is never one around and when you ask for a manager an employee from the back will claim Management status but they are not a manager as they don't act or answer like a Manger should. A cook or dishwasher can come out and say they are a manger. They never never ever answer their telephone and when you drive there to talk to them in person cashier is not busy. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!! did your cashiers turn the ringer off on purpose to not engage with customers? They don't know how to multitask because that comes with the job and it states on you job duty list requirements. Food is too salty and not prepared carefully under food prep guidelines. Surveys will not change ot clean dish rags causing food born illnesses and contamination. Retrain your staff and maybe the review will change. Other GC GIve better service and food quality than this trashy location. Modesto or Sacramento is better. Plus if you're not Mexican and speak Español you won't get treated the same. I noticed they only help their own kind. Just pointing out what's so obvious that the Manger or owner is not seeing or addressing. Or shut this place down if you cannot run it to the way it needs to be a good clean respectful place to congregate with family and friends. SHAME ON YOU OWNERS OR...
