If you come to this establishment, I honestly suggest that you come here not hoping for much. Although the food was good (surprisingly their miso soup is one of the best), coming here on the Fourth of July was probably one of the things I regretted the most and I will probably never come back here until they improve their service and professionalism.
We tried the bento sets and one roll, which honestly was pretty good. I was surprised by the teriyaki chicken, and miso soup, both of which were seasoned quite well. I would say that the walnut prawn rolls were a little undercooked in terms of the shrimp, but the looks of it were quite creative.
Sashimi, on the other hand, was really fishy and was a big let down. It didn’t even taste fresh. It just felt as if someone cut it and just left it there to rot. Also, the 5pc sashimi I got was way too small to be called sashimi.
Also, just to put a warning out that Kimono is not run by Japanese people — they’re run by a bunch of rude Chinese people who honestly pretend that they are running an authentic Japanese restaurant. Just own up to it, y’all. I’m not stupid when I can see y’all communicate.
I’m giving the service a blatantly honest one star because of how rude they treated me and my partner. The waitress was absolutely passive aggressive, and kept on rushing us in the process. What really ticked me off was the fact that the boss and the boss lady did not say anything about closing early — neither was there a sign about closing early due to a family function. That was in their turn very unprofessional, and an absolutely uncourteous way to not remind your patrons and assume that we all know. LOL. Also, no soy sauce on tables? Another reason why I can give y’all a one star in terms of hospitality.
The atmosphere of this place is DARK. I didn’t like it at all.
I will not be coming back to this place to support this...
Read moreI'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. We came in on a Friday night, and not long after we sat down most tables were filled up with couples and families.
I had two coupons from Tracy's Book of Savings. One is "spend $30 or more and get a FREE dragon roll", and the other one is "get 3 rolls for $30 with some exclusions". We used the first one.
Food: ·Heart Attack roll - miso pork belly with spicy crab, spicy salmon and deep fried asparagus and cream cheese, topped with tempura bits. This was my favorite roll!! ·Sunset roll - fried soft shell crab, asparagus and spicy tuna. Good texture, crab taste was very strong. ·Dragon roll - tempura shrimp and crab salad topped with unagi and avocado. There was a bit too much rice in the roll, but otherwise delicious. ·Uni (sea urchin) nigiri $7.95 - uni tasted fresh, sweet and smooth. It was not the best I've had, but very good nonetheless. The owner told us the uni was imported from Japan.
In conclusion, food was good and service was attentive. Will definitely come back to support this...
Read moreWorse sushi experience. I mentioned specifically “I can not eat raw fish”. Waitress asked to another waitress and showed me deep fried and baked rolls. I was already aware to check these sections but I was about to ask for her recommendation for a much more preferred one. I asked if she has any recommendation, she asked me if I want only water like I didn’t ask that question. Then I chose OMG from deep fried section, rolls were with raw fish in the middle. Then I ordered another one. I ate fake crab where I came to eat fish. And the one I ordered it was the most expensive ones of deep fried section which says ‘tempura shrimps’. There were only 2 shrimp tails in 2 rolls on the plate, that’s what they call tempura shrimp. I am not a sushi expert but I am quite aware what I am eating, what the good or bad food is. And btw the water was smelling terrible I couldn’t drink even I was super thirsty. Price wise it was not specific, I ate at another sushi restaurant with similar prices, much more better options, quality and tasty. Definitely not...
