First time there. Customers were lined up outside for the doors to open at 11:30am. Small indoor seating area is congested and very noisy. We ordered a Philly combo and the fish and chips. The Philly was great, 5 stars on it. Received chicken and fries instead of fish and chips.
From appearances, the chicken could have been fish ( both are coated and deep fried). I took my plate up to the register since I received the wrong entree. I had torn apart one of the pieces of chicken and tasted it thinking it was fish. I was absolutely appalled that they took the plate back into the kitchen area after I told them my grubby little hands had been all over the food.
It took forever to get my corrected order and honestly, the fish served looked just like those frozen filets you get at the supermarket. Tasted like it too. I would not recommend the fish and chips at all.
When we go out to eat, especially when trying a new place, we pretty much expect one of us will be a winner and one, a loser. I was definitely the loser with the fish and chips. If you're going for the Philly, you shouldn't be disappointed. Just stay away from the fish.
We spent $32 for this experience. I think when an order is screwed up at the fault of the restaurant, there should be a little goodwill gesture offered like a coupon or other comp. Nope, not here. First time was a disappointment. Well try it again, but if it's not better the second time, that'll...
Read moreI have never reviewed a business before. And I've had my share of bad service. So, this should tell you how bad our visit was. My family and I waited one hour and forty-five minutes for our food. The crew there was soooooo unorganized. Orders were being served out of order. Customers that came in after us were served two or three ahead of us. And people that came in before us were still waiting on food after we ate and left. Can't imagine how long they'd been there. Doordashers / online orders were waiting an hour plus. With no options for a refund. The place was packed, and The manager was tasked in a labor role and not responding to customers. Complaining customers were being handled by the two teen girls running one register!?!?!? Don't understand that. They had to keep stopping the server from delivering the food to help handle the complaints. Didn't appear that the manager cared that people were complaining. He just kept working on something or disappearing. Food was ok at best. My wife had the shrimp and fish, and the fish was awful (one bite is all she could handle). Steak sandwiches were ehhh (Jersey Mike's waaaay better). Daughter had a cheese burger and said it was ok at best. Prices were incredibly high. I was soooo excited to have a steak shop in Travelers Rest. Guess I'll continue to go to Greenville. This...
Read moreHaving grown up near Philadelphia, I have high standards for a real Philly Cheesesteak. Philly Grill not only did not disappoint, but instead, exceeded my expectations! Let's start with the service. Lisa, who was at the counter taking orders, could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very busy, but it wasn't long after ordering that our group of 6's food was delivered to our table outside on the comfortable patio. The cheesesteaks were exactly as they should be; Amoroso rolls, tender shaved beef, sauteed onions, and melted cheese. Everyone in my group had cheesesteaks and fries, but there were so many other menu options that sounded amazing! I look forward to many return visits, and maybe I will try something other than a cheesesteak. Better yet, I will try other menu items in ADDITION to a cheesesteak! Thank you to the owners for opening such a great place that is even convenient to bike to from the Swamp...
