I’ve been going to this place over 30 years. At 16 after receiving my drivers license the wonderful food of traverse city became available to me. This was a biweekly at least stop for me. The sandpiper, mushroom Swiss burger and many more are my favorites. Now 30 years later this is the only business I have found that still has that consistent amazing taste I remember. Read moreI was originally heading to Jersey Mike’s for a go-to sandwich, but spotted The Chef’s In and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. I had the Turkey & Swiss, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Fresh ingredients, flavorful, and the sauces they use really take it up a notch.
It was a bit crowded and there was a wait, but the small-town vibe and quality made it worth it. Prices are a little on the higher side for the portion size, but the flavor and experience made up for it. Very happy I stopped in.

I typically order their build-your-own cold sandwich, which they give you a great variety of fillings to choose from. Get the DILL SAUCE, it's phenomenal! 🤤
The atmosphere is cozy, their staff is attentive and kind, and they are SUPER FAST to boot! There is a bit of a learning curve to their ordering process, but it is not complicated. When you arrive, fill out an order ticket located next to the register, and then give it to the cashier when its your turn in line. Simple!
