Detroit Taco Company — Restaurant in Troy

I called to place a carry out order and was told you can only order through Grub Hub or Door Dash. I don't particularly like ordering through these types of apps, but I had no choice. So I ordered through Door Dash.

First off, the menu options on Door Dash are less than the actual menu. There was no option to order nachos, which is what I wanted. So I ordered Tacos. This got confusing because I checked the "soft" box for my tortilla option and I got soft corn instead of flour. I also thought I was ordering a side of rice and beans, but apparently I was ordering it to go on my taco? Because that's how it came. I get that this was probably user error, but it was worded very confusing. This could have been eliminated if I would have been able to place my order on the phone.

The nail in the coffin for me was that my tacos completely fell apart when I went to eat them. The soft corn tortillas completely ripped and all of the filling fell out. I had to use tortillas I had at home to refill and actually get to eat the filling. I didn't even want soft corn tortillas, and thought I was getting regular flour tortillas, so this was pretty annoying.

Giving two stars because aside from the bad ordering experience, the grilled chicken and shrimp were good, and the Pico was amazing.

Not sure if I'll order from here again though. Definitely not for takeout, unless they will allow their patrons to place orders...

Got an outside wet burrito with rice and beans, as I was waiting to try this place near my current job, I’ve eaten mexican food at every place around and unfortunately today after eating this burrito I hurled it up on my drive home from work a few hours later, food was pretty mid but I only can eat what I order while on a lunch break.

Second comment since I’m fuming angry; Had meet and greet concert tickets for the night, ate a meal here at noon/12:30, puked while driving at 4:45 while on the freeway home, puked as soon as I got back at 6:15 and hurled throughout the night mouthfuls of rice and black beans, taking a lot of energy out of my holiday weekend and don’t expect a response, but I’m very upset, I was told to never eat at a place that charges $5 for a taco and they...

Detroit taco company was a major disappointment. The good to go tacos are supposed to come with chicken, cheese and a sauce packet... which they did. The problem is only half the taco was filled and with barely any cheese. I also am not a fan of the sauce packet being put on the outside of the taco, it seems unsanitary. Now for the Detroit taco. All I tasted was beans. I had to scrape them off to actually be able to taste the rest of the ingredients. The hard shell was extremely soggy as well. As for the service, another miss by them. They didn't give me the sour cream I paid for, I couldn't add any side of lettuce to my order so I put it in the comment sections to be put on the side and that didn't happen. If I'm paying $18 for 5 tacos it won't be...
