The D in Donna should stand for disappointment, at least that’s the tale that’s come to fruition tonight after not receiving our food. My girl and I walked in and were eventually greeted by a server, and they instructed us to sit wherever we liked. We traversed the building and found a booth upstairs. The atmosphere was calm, and moody, the bar was right across from us. The lovely ladies there handed us some menus and after a quick look we decided on some pizza and drinks. Nobody can possibly mess it up in an upstanding Italian restaurant right? Wrong. The drinks were subpar, overflowing with too much bitters and incomplete nonetheless, it held us over for nearly an hour though. That was when we faced each other and wondered where’s our pizza? The bartender said she’ll check but never came back to us with an answer. After about another 15 minutes my girl closed out the tab when she heard from the bartender they just started making our pizza. Unfortunately we’re not the type of people to wait an hour for one small pie of pizza. So we left the restaurant but not without noticing new customers that came after us eating their meals. I don’t know if it was a ticket not going through, or the kitchen was backed up, but seeing new people eat before us can’t help me think that they forgot about us. And I hope to...
Read moreTo be clear, wonderful people and genuinely nice and seemingly hard working. I say that because that is the crux of the slight bit of negativity I’d have for this restaurant. First the food, that gets 5 stars, it’s flavorful, generous and always fresh. I haven’t really experienced a bad dish yet. First time, party of 2 and second time, party of 6. All the food was spot on and hot. The service, ugh. I don’t like being critical and sound negative but I just don’t think they understand the service bit. I say it like that because it has to be acceptable by management for them to be this way. Therefore I’ll say that they’re not trained properly. Touch base, take the order, deliver food and then you’re on an island. No one to be found. They might be too busy to check back or refill your drink, it seems like they’re slightly understaffed. But not great service. The atmosphere fulfills the urban grunge, rip off the sheetrock and expose everything that hip. Unfortunately that’s the basis of design in the bathrooms too and it ain’t pretty. I’m hoping I didn’t discourage your trip to try this place. The negatives I’ve mentioned do not get in the way of having a very good meal and that what’s brought me back a second time. I’m sure...
Read moreAbsolutely enjoyed sitting outside for a glass of wine on a warm evening last night. Our server Hannah was also very helpful. I’m vegan so I came here specifically for the seitan parm dish that I had before but they took it off the menu and now really only offer pizzas, some salads and 3 pasta dishes. 2 of which have eggs in it. None with red sauce. I had vegan pizza just the night before so I didn’t want that again, and thought the menu was very limited (I’m not saying make it a plant based restaurant) but the menu before felt like a few more options I could choose from. I’m so sad they got rid of their vegan garlic knots too. After a few trips to the kitchen (that was very kind of our server to check but always not a fun experience when you have ask 1000 questions and see what they can make you) They were able to make me a bucatini pasta with olive oil, chick peas and a little broccoli rabe. I was thankful they could at least make me a dish so my mom and I could eat together and we could enjoy the outdoor seating. I will try their vegan cheese on a pizza in the future, but am disappointed that there really aren’t that many options anymore for someone like me, and I really enjoyed this...
