I worked for this place for three days and the experience was terrible! I went to the interview and didn't hear back from them for two weeks. I got a call on a Tuesday (busiest day at the restaurant) and they asked me to start that day cause they were short on staff. I applied to be a server and ended up being a busser. I asked for training and they told me that they will give me a proper training but once I got there they expected me to go straight to work without knowing anything about the job or how the place operates (I didn't receive any training) On my second day they warned me about a bartender at the place, they told me that he was very flirty and that I should be careful. He started hitting on me in front of a full lane of male customers, yelling at me from the bar while I was cleaning glasses. I told the owner and they told me that he was like that and that I should tell him something. They didnât do anything about it. I didnât received ANY tips from the servers even though they told me that tips were included. I texted one of the owners wife WEEKS for her to tell me when I could get my check and once I did she asked me if I had food cause apparently it was not included on the shift (not what was said). She didnât have any registrations of my hours (of course) and paid me a day less of work. The schedules were not organized at all and nothing was according what they told me before starting my job there. Would NOT recommend working here or even consuming their food because of the conditions of it. They keep the food out for days, they recycle the chips that they serve you at the table and re use them for the next table if you didnât finish...
Read moreMy wife and I had heard from a local that this place was a pleasant place to eat. We were seated fairly quickly. Seating was outside under a marquee (tent) waiter was energetic and friendly. It got off to a decent start. I ordered slow cooked pork, with rice, beans and guacamole. My wife ordered steak with the same accompanying sides. We ordered our food at 1805. Out came the chips and salsa. Then the drinks. Then more chips and salsa. Then waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Then more chips and salsa was offered. We declined saying we were waiting for our main courses. The time was 1845. The waiter replied âoh yeah your food is next up be with you soon.â We continued to wait, until 1900 when our waiter returned and said âare you guys ready to order?â Stunned my wife replied âwe ordered almost exactly an hour ago!â He quizzically replied âoh what did you order let me go check on itâ We reiterated our order and he came back out and informed us that our meal was the next ticket to be made. We continued to wait and at 1910 the food was delivered to our table. I was so so happy! Then I tucked in to what appeared to be delicious food, only to discover my food was completely cold. Cold pork, cold beans, cold rice. My wifeâs food was perhaps warm at least. Her steak (flank i believe) had a depth of flavour. Not hot. But flavourful at least. No bueno! In addition the waiters were taking water jugs from tables, refilling them and then returning them without sanitising them first. Why not return them to the tables you took them from? If thatâs happening in full view, what is happening behind the...
Read moreHi, this is from a Truckee resident of over 30 years, my husband has been going to this restaurant since 1974. Knew the original owner Firmen. Today was the start of my birthday week which I love to go to Donner Lake, and then to Casa Baez for my favorite margarita. I feel as I have in the last couple times we have gone to this restaurant that we know very well. There was more effort into changing the inside, then keeping the food consistent. I always order a margarita on the rocks with her Dura silver. Canât find this anywhere. Best margarita ever. I also ordered chicken taquitos. I donât think I got chicken I think I got beef and the minimal amount of size in other words, no sides. It used to come with sour cream and guacamole. Now nothing. My husband who has been ordering since 1974 chicken enchilada with Chile Riano. No Chile Riano for some reason they couldnât go to the store and get a pepper and ended up with green sauce instead of red sauce. We were sat at a table that was so wobbly Iâm not talking just irritating, but every time we moved our drinks for splashing all over the place . Iâm sorry but this used to be one of our favorite restaurants and now it has gone downhill whoever bought it whatever happened. They need to bring the quality of their food back up to where it was because it doesnât even match what we used to get. Very sad. Very disappointed. Had to move to Reno because of what is going on in Truckee, and know that one of our favorite restaurants has been affected is...
