The two of us went for lunch on a Monday just after the lunch hour rush - 1:00PM. We were greeted and sat almost instantly, and the restaurant was about 60% full.
Our server, Athena T, came over in less than a minute and took our drink order. My diet Coke came within a minute, and as fast as I could suck it down Athena brought a new one. She even offered to have a to-go one if we wanted some for the road.
The wings... very delicious. Coated with hot buffalo sauce (usually Frank's Red Hot with butter but it can also be made with Tabasco sauce) and perfectly adhered to the wings. They were almost crispy but definitely tender with a good crust.
The French Dip was perfect, a bit red, a bit grey, soft, tender, and the dipping sauce (the "jus") was great. The horseradish mayo was a little weak ... but to be honest it worked out just fine. I'm sure had I asked for real cut horseradish Athena would have had it out... in... less than a minute. Same for the Chicken Club sandwich. In fact, Athena came over and apologized that the kitchen had fired the sandwiches same time as the wings instead of staggering them. We were going to take home leftovers anyway so this meant more variety and less wait time.
She was also bussing her own tables, and had at least six working while we were there. Apparently someone had "called in sick." Yes, we have a name for servers/runners/expos who "are sick" right after a weekend... "Ex-employees."
When we wanted boxes to take half the food home (I can eat roast beef and wings like nobody's business but THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE!!!) she brought 3 boxes and a bag. Usually servers will bring one box per person and no bags unless you ask.
Atmosphere: not too dim, not too bright, and since it's 100F outside, the window shades kept it nice and cool. Everything was spotless-clean including the men's room. I did not check out the women's room ;-)
Parking is plentiful all around. Disabled access is available. The place is in a weirdly shaped complex called "The Corner" so I had to drive slowly and carefully and look out for cross-traffic.
I've been to many brewpubs but this being a business day that meant no "brews" were consumed. Looks like they have somewhere around 15+ taps for kegs.
Would I go back? YES Would I recommend it to others? YES (ask for Athena!) Would I recomment it to family/friends knowing I'll hear all about it if they don't have a good experience? YES Do you need reservations? We just walked in, but when we left there were some people on the benches in the front, so I'd say get reservations if you can.
Seriously the best brewpub experience I've had in a long time, and usually I just go with something "safe" like a burger (hard to mess that one up). The French Dip was awesome.
It's not "cheap" but nothing is anymore. It's also not "downsized" or "shrinkflationed" so yeah, two of us got out for $65 including the wings appetizer, the soda, the sandwiches, and the upcharge for going from fries (included) to onion rings (+$3.50).
We looked at the strange assortment of places they have throughout the country... looks like their target demographic is college towns. We have the University of Arizona here (Go Cats!) so that works.
I hope you go there and enjoy it...
Read moreOrder two complete meals online at the restaurant on Oracle Road in Tucson, Arizona. We paid $89.90 for our order when my husband went to pick up the order it was read to him correctly. They brought the orders out and apologize for his delay. my husband did not check the order he left and came home He at that moment realize we were missing one dinner complete dinner, and one of the sides for the dinner that he received we called up to the restaurants to advise them that we did not receive all of our food. They were very rude. They told us that we must’ve ordered at the wrong at the other store in town and we advised them no we order at the store then they try to say that our credit card was declined when we have proof that they actually charged our card for the $89.90 manager was rude and they hung up on my husband and told him that that the meal that we received us all we were gonna get I called back and asked to speak to a manager. They refuse to let me speak to a manager because they “already spoke to my husband and that again we didn’t pay for our meals and then they hung up on me. I called back four times after that they would pick up the phone and hang up on me so I never got a chance to speak to the manager. They absolutely charged our car for $89.90. We did not get all of our food. This this restaurant is a fraud and they’re rude and their employees needs to go through customer service training I don’t know who is running the store, but the service was pissed poor and the fact that they charge my card but didn’t wanna give us all of our food screams to me that somebody in there is pocketing money I will never ever go to this restaurant again and we usually go to this restaurant at least two or three...
Read moreCame for lunch and really disappointed. It didn't help that in an almost empty restaurant we were packed in between 2 tables and 2 booths when we could have sat one booth away without being in a unmanned section.
If the hostess had been paying attention to the room at all, I would hope she would have avoided seating us next to a permissive mother. The Mom was not engaging her children, instead sitting with her nose in her phone occasionally yelling at them to sit down while her eldest son was hanging his body over the booth into our seats.
It took quite some time to get any service, I'd say about 10 minutes. The only benefit to the delay, is the mother and her children left before we received our food. The waiter was nice and polite, but his voice was soft. Please ask the staff to speak clearly and a bit louder. His voice was very hard to discern among the patron's voices, music and background noise.
Lunch was sad. The Strawberry Fields salad was bland and wilty and the Chicken Parm was pathetically small, with an overprocessed flavor on the pasta. The chicken itself on the chicken parm was tasty. The Mac looks like boxed Kraft and also tastes overly processed.
They have a boba style drink and put the sharp end of the straw face up. Hurt my mouth cause I didn't even notice until it was too late.
Speaking of drinks, the Heff and the Mango Sparkler were the only redeemable parts of the meal.
BJ's we used to really enjoy coming there and we understand that inflation can cause some challenges for price points but if we have to choose between BJ's and another restaurant the increase of inconsistencies when it comes to quality food and services will encourage us to seek alternatives...
