Decent food, small portions, condescending owner. If you're trying to navigate the menu on the spot at the register (it's not listed in a board you can read overhead or while in line), and you accidentally find yourself in the lunch section at dinner time, but don't realize your mistake and try to order.. you can expect a passive aggressive and condescending ambiguous statement about how it's late for lunch. There are better ways to address the situation. I'm sorry, we've switched to the dinner menu. Here's where to look. Or if you're frustrated because it's a repeated issue, perhaps you PRINT TWO DIFFERENT MENUS. I know it's a wild concept. The drinks and teas are nice, but you aren't getting a well rounded or filling meal. I struggle to find something with enough protein if I don't want the chili. It's just uncomfortable to be there. Rude owner, cramped seating, loud if they're busy. That's really why I stopped going awhile back. She use to be a chemist, I believe. Seems like she started the business with kind intent, but didn't hold onto that. Perhaps she will be unhappy no matter where she works or what she does. But one thing I can say is if you don't like interacting with people, either hire someone who does (most of your employees are equally uncomfortable but much nicer than you are), or work a job where you don't have to interact with people. Your customers go out of their way to meet up at your restaurant and support you, giving you their hard earned money. The least you could do is stand by your name of lovin spoonfuls and be.. even beneath the bar of loving: kind. That would be enough. Or neutral. But not condescending and passive aggressive. That's not OK. I don't send my friends here anymore, sorry. I'd rather tell them what their options are at other restaurants. I never feel welcome long enough to enjoy my tiny meal. May as well walk the half a block to Albertsons. They're much...
Read moreI wish we stopped at any other vegan restaurant. Not only did the food take foreverrrrrr to come out (felt like more than an hour!), but it WASN'T a full meal. I ordered the Mediterranean and it was NOT worth the wait or the price. I was given 3 small falafel balls, a serving of rice, a few pieces of sliced carrot and cucumber, a small side salad(??) and a small plate of fries(????). Not at all what you'd expect from a Mediterranean plate, especially with how empty I felt even after eating. The taste was okay but again, how could you screw up the taste of sliced carrots. 𤨠My friend ordered a burrito and got all the fixings, and said they only ate it because they were hungry. Just yikes. The service could've been improved if someone came out and gave an estimate for our food, or apologized and compensated us in some way. We're very patient people though and didn't want to be rude or put pressure by asking ourselves, but it was just ridiculous, and why should we have to?? It was not busy and people who arrived after us were being served and checked up on. A burrito and a plate of leaves and rice should NOT take over an hour to be made. Just ridiculous. Not worth the $50. When our bird food FINALLY came out, I had to ask the server, "Could we get some water?" She was chipper and brought us some, and acted like we weren't sitting there for over an hour, starving and twiddling our thumbs...... Tell me why I even had to ask for WATER. We ordered politely and were not being obnoxious. No excuse for how s* this dining experience was. Having cute animals on the wall does not make up for the lack of service or scamming people. I hate hating on vegan restaurants but would rather people support vegan restaurants that are actually good....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found this restaurant when it first opened. Got to know the owner and her goals for the future and was impressed. And then, THE FOOD! Remember this was one of the first all vegan restaurants and it had comfort foods and fast food creations and they were all delicious. I have been vegetarian/vegan for nearly my whole life and raised my son the same. This gave my child a chance to eat foods that other kids talked about or enjoyed but in the sustainable, cruelty free way I have always lived my life when given free will, waaaay before it was a "thing" Win-win! Many things have changed but many are the same. The menu is different, in some ways I love (more ethnic choices, more choices in general) some things I miss. I still make sure to take my son when he is in town for a meal and whatever shake is being promoted. I don't care for shakes but they are a revelation here.
Admittedly I have been less during "the year of Covid" but have ordered through delivery and they are lovely about it. They have contact less pick up available and safe social distancing inside the restaurant.
They meet people on whatever level they are in plant based resources. Newbie who wants to try what all the fuss is about all the way to us "oldsters" who have made it the way of our lives.
Price point is middle range but quality of the foods is the highest. You don't have to be adventurous with food choices, have the Route 66 burger. Get adventurous if you want and try one of the many choices of culturally diverse offerings. There is so much they have to offer and that includes socially responsible change, if that interests you, and just such great food if that is what you are really looking for. No...
