Our first and only experience at Main Event: We brought a party of 8 people, spending an average of $500 on food and games. We all enjoyed our dinner then decided to stay and play games. Part of our party left early and some of us stayed behind until close. Towards the end of the night, just before closing, one of the games malfunctioned. We looked for an employee to come help. A young man came by and looked at the game, then walked away from us (towards the prize counter) without notice. A few moments later, he came back with cards in his hands. He opened up the machine, restocked a stack of cards the machine was missing/ran out of and resetted the machine for us to get back to playing. Suddenly, all of the games shut down with no warning or notice whatsoever. After he closed up the game, he then pursued with a shrug and said, you only had 5 tokens left in the game. I politely expressed to him that we had been playing there for a while to finish collecting the cards that were on the edge. He repeated that we only had 5 tokens left in the game. I proceeded to explain that was not possible due to having swiped for additional credits just before he showed up (none of this made sense). He tried to shrug it off and before he walked away we explained we intended to keep playing to win the card that was on the edge. He offered the one card or a credit of 5 tokens. We accepted the card thinking he was being truthful about us having less tokens than we thought. We were still somewhat confused so we then proceeded to check our credit balance on the app and realized we really did have more than what he said and decided we would speak to someone in high hopes of being helped fairly. At no point were we disrespectful, but the contrary. We thanked the manager for taking the time in checking and "working" with us. He asked for our receipt and card to check the history of the card. After a few minutes or so, he looked at our card history, realized credit was owed before the games suddenly shut down. We followed the manager to the prizes section and the employee who had helped us earlier was there. As the manager looked into our account, the other employee proceeded and directed himself towards us mentioning he had given us the card. I then pulled out the one card he had given my sister and said that I would prefer the credits I was owed then the one card. The manager pursued with only refunding partial of the missing credits (as we had credits within the game before adding more). Etc.... Overall, we can go into so much detail of what happened and how it was handled. In the end, we left with a very disappointing experience. Our excitement of visiting this new place within our home town ended with a disillusionment. Although we were very polite with everyone, we left feeling we were treated unfairly. On a side note, their point system seems to be inaccurate or faulty. Please keep a close eye on the number of tickets you accumulate as it doesn't...
Read moreIt is hard to find anyone around the kiosks where you purchase game cards to help out when you need it. Staff is also hard to find on the gaming floor. I’m a dad and I had to take my 5yo daughter to the restroom, so I got in line behind a lady with her son at the family restroom. She waited at the door for so long she finally just took him into the woman’s restroom. I knocked on the door a couple times but didn’t hear anybody, so I asked staff if they keep it locked. They said no, so I went back to the door, and who, after at least 10 minutes, emerged but an employee. I knew she hadn’t even been using the toilet (probably on her cell phone the whole time) because there was a smear of feces on the seat. Not only was that a sign that she was hiding out in there while on the clock, she didn’t try to clean it up. I was on a wait list for a bowling lane, and the bowling staff said I had to wait about 10 more minutes, so I sat at the table right next to their station, about 5 feet away, and gave my son my phone to play in while we waited. They then texted me that my lane was ready, (which I didn’t see bc my son was on the phone) instead of just turning to me and telling me that it was ready. Finally I get my lane, and after a few frames, the ball return isn’t working properly and it’s not scoring the game correctly because of it, zeroing out a lot of the scores because it kept thinking I was throwing 2 balls at once. The staff moved me to another lane, but I was not given the added time to make up for the 20 minutes it took to sort out the lane issues. This place isn’t cheap, so every minute counts. I said “F-it” at that point and didn’t complain. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. FYI the bowling pins are on strings like the state fair so even though the price is serious no person that actually cares about bowling would take it seriously. The drinks and food were the equivalent of a basic chain restaurant like appleby’s but add a few bucks to everything’s cost. I can tell the work culture of this place, the training, the management, the staff, are all bottom tier. I felt more positive energy coming out of the staff and homeless crackheads at the Circle K on...
Read moreWent to Main Event today with my nephew and my uncle. I thought the front associates that were assisting customers did a okay job with helping us get game card's. Could have explained better about the other options on the kiosk. The games were alright. Some were out of service, and some took the credits out of the card but didn't let us use the game. They have new games I haven't seen at Dave and Busters which I thought was cool. We then went to go get some food and went to the sign that says "Please wait for server to be seated'. We are waiting and still no server. Workers are passing by us, even workers that work in that area are passing by. Turns out the sign is misleading and we were at the wrong area to get seated. So that's another example where Main Event can improve on it doesn't take a lot to ask customers if they need any help, especially if they work in that area. It was obvious we were waiting for someone to serve us but they still passed us. We had to take it upon ourselves to ask someone for help before they were about to pass us too. She showed us where to go and get seated. When we get there they tell us it'll take 45-50 minutes for a table to be opened. But the thing of it though is that they had plenty of tables opened and available for people to be seated. Now I could be misinformed and those tables were reserved by a party or group of people. The front end associates should be asking customers if they were going to be eating their as well so customers are aware of what to do in order to reserve a table. One of the associates that helped us up front with buying game cards just told us where the restaurant was. So we are under the impression we don't need to reserve a table and we can go there and get seated without reserving a table. That was a huge disappointment we were all hungry and ready to eat. So overall Main Event has potential to be the very best in the city, but to me if they continue to have these issues going forward they'll lose customers and could lose them for good. But also gotta remember it's grand opening weekend and I'm not going to act like it's doom for ultimate closure, but they...
